Is it normal to turn to mlp fanfiction to fill the void in your life?

My life has been going downhill for at least four years, probably more. It seems like things will never get better, y'know. So I decided to get active in the MLP fanfiction community, just because it seemed like a good idea. While I don't like the show itself, I do like a lot of the fan creations, from stories to artwork to music. Is it normal to turn to something dumb like this when it becomes apparent that your life will never improve?

  • There is a creepypasta about one of the ponies inviting her friend over to viciously torture and dismember her in a basement and uses her hide to make a jacket or something. And apparently she had been murdering other ponies for a long time and kept her victims skeletons and skin as trophies.

"Cupcakes" is an infamous MLP fanfic about Pinkie Pie becoming an Axe-crazy homicidal maniac. She ends up murdering rainbow Dash, and then disposing of her body by making cupcakes out of her.

        yeah, its rather disturbing.

    • Brony, I guess. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the terms.

I love to read mlp fanfics myself. Some of them are really good.

a few i really like are:

    "The Koprulu sector"
(an mlp/Starcraft crossover): Its tough in this sector of space, with 5 factions vying for control. despite the constant war around them, 3 fillies (the Cutie Mark Crusaders)
grow up in a rather peaceful life on the colony of Mar Sara, but Events cause them to find out first-hand how tough it can really be in this sector of space.

[warning: some gore, but not like cupcakes] It does get dark though.

"Trixie gets back on her hooves",(trixie is found begging in the streets and twilight takes her in. while she is trying to start over and learn from her past mistakes, she gets an unwelcome visit from somepony from her past.

"Inner Demons" (a powerful evil has befallen equestria and must be stopped, but how can you fight a friend?)

" Romance Reports" (warning: contains clop and shipping!) (the story kinda plays out like the show itself, but with romance instead of friendship, luna acting as a mentor figure, and with more mature themes, including drinking, swearing, and well...you know. )

Asylum: Twilight wakes up in a strange place, everypony is telling her her life was a lie, and that she is crazy, even her frends and family seem different...

Composure: (contains shipping) many ponies keep their true selves hidden under a "mask". Celestia has done it for so long even she doesn't know her true self anymore. certain events have started to crack away at the "mask" and celestias true nature starts to show. what is under the "mask"?

these are just a few. its a shame many see fanfics as just badly written erotica and hasily written romance stories involving the author and her character crush.

Don't read "My Little Dashie" if you want that void to turn into a gaping black hole with a 10 mile radius.

    • I actually tried to read that one once. Wasn't my cup of tea- I find that blatant self-inserts are kind of off putting.
