Is it normal to try and impress a girl in class?

So basically there is this girl who I like very much and she sits a few seats in front of me in class. Now our teacher told us to split into groups of three for an assignment, and he said that will be where we sit the entire semester. I'm not in her group, but I'm in a group with a guy who sits next to her, so I was thinking I would sit between him and her and make it awkward for them to have conversations (like they always do) without noticing me in the way. And at the same time I want to try and impress her somehow, maybe by showing her how smart I am, so she will want to talk to me more and get to know me better. I'm in college btw.

    That's a terrible idea. Just sit where u sit and approach her after class. Make the connection when class isn't directing it, it will be stronger to start with. Try to get her number on the FIRST interaction. Just say "hey :insert name here:! I have always thought you were kind of cute and I figured since we have class together, we could get to know one another a bit better. Can I get your number? Maybe meet up for coffee?" It's not hard. I can't count how many girls I've pulled from my classes with that exact line. You just have to be genuine and make your intentions knows, subtly.
