Is it normal to think this about humans?

People love to invite each other to the dining table to eat and socialize, but we don't socialize taking a shit together. I mean is that normal?

Eating dinner and what not doesnt involve being partially nude. The only time its OK to socialize in the bathroom are during award urinal small talk and end of the night ceaseless jaw grinding coke chatter.

I've heard from people travelling through China that this is still a social occasion in some places there. So yeah, it's a cultural thing.

Interesting point. In Roman times, the morning ablutions were a very social affair. I can't remember the name of the structure they did this in (someone on IIN will know, or at least Google it and pretend they knew), and also this kind of ease with oneself became common in the First World War (at least according to Erich Paul/Maria Remark/Remarque's book "All Quiet on the Western/Eastern Front").

Putting food into your body is no different than expelling waste out of it. All that matters is the etiquette of the day. And today's etiquette is that expulsion is a private matter. Although I see how stupid that is, I'm a child of today and I prefer privacy too, even though there's genuinely no good reason for it apart from the prejudice we've been indoctrinated with.

I hate doing things because society tells me to do them, and I question everything, but if I always chose against the current mores and morality then I'd be just as wrong as if I always chose in favour of it.

  • But taking a shit smells bad and it's kinda gross. I mean we all do it but it's really not the proper "socializing" thing.
