Is it normal to think there's no integrity in the world?

Whenever I experience kindness, it always seemed to be backed up by something. Either its people trying to manipulate you, show off to others, or even people doing it to simply gratify themselves / make themselves feel good, but only when it suits them.

I'm sure integrity must exist, it has to. Because I feel it and I can't be alone in that.

I just haven't experienced much of it at all from others. So, I'm wondering, have I just been really unlucky? Or are the majority of people actually just plain selfish?

"Disreputability" is what the world has in excess supply. It drives corporate profits, commerce, and government. Some people have partial integrity to ideals, temporary team goals, or certain values.

In general tho, anything is possible when silver crosses the palm.

What you're experiencing is the difference authors would describe as the "human" experience. As of right now, in this place and time, it's all idealistic and altruistic. When nature forces our hand, you'll find that all people will be selfish.

Of course integrity exists! I think you're disappointed because other people's ideas of integrity are different to yours and your expectations are just too high: I recognise it because I can be like that too until I remind myself that I'm doing the best I can and so are most other people, it's just we all do it differently

I feel the same way too. It's also hard to trust people now a days especially as you get older.
