Is it normal to think that society sucks and feel like you're trapped in it?

I think it's ridiculous how society tells us to work hard all day just for some inadequate amount of money. We only have our time of peace when we're old and our bodies spent, thereby robbing us of any enjoyment in life making those remaining 5-10 yrs of your life pointless. It's bullshit and no different from being a slave. If I can, I would totally avoid that from happening to me. I refuse to live like a slave. I'd rather live in the wild or some uninhabited island faraway.

P.S. I would say more but English isn't my first language, I apologize.

It would be more accurate to say that society wants evetyone to make money in a way that is most fulfilling to every individual. If someone is unwilling to put the effort or if they lack the talent, then, society asks you to work hard for inadequate payment.

So glad i,m not the only one who thinks that. I say do what ever you want before you get old...and when you have few years before you retire start working.

Your English is fine and of course society is shit. Everyone knows it.

You can do whatever you want. You don't have to have the bullshit job, settle for a mediocre guy, and have a family to justify your existence. Move to a commune. Save enough money to go backpacking across europe (insert dream vacation). That's the thing. The idea we were sold was that to be anything in this world we had to have rank, authority or money. To be without that is to be worthless. It's horseshit but it's so deeply ingrained in us, perhaps down to our DNA.

I would like to live on an island too, but unfortunately that would cost money.
