Is it normal to think that people are devolving?

People say that humans are still evolving but looking at the world's conditions and the ones that are procreating, it seems to me we're devolving and have been for quite some time now.

That's not evolve means. Evolution does not necessitate any sort of improvement.

This post is arrogant. You're stating that you feel that you know people, the earth, and everything that's on this planet.

  • I've thought humans are the first creature to devolve. It's because we got to a point where we can be lazy and do nothing and the only way to go is down.

    I. A society which rewards lazy stupid people and encourages them to mate, while doing nothing for productive citizens... What do you expect?

Humans are devolving rapidly. Intelligent people use birth control. Dumb people out breed them because they are too dumb to think about consequences. The media is lowering journalistic standards rapidly for this devolving populace. Emotional thinking is the future for humanity.

There's lots of dysfunctional people breeding that's for sure and dysfunction seems to breed dysfunction.

Sadly, I've had the same feeling for some time now.

Poor Charlie wouldn't be happy but it's true. We may think of ancient civilisations as primitive but they were more intelligent, healthier, stronger.
We have our computers and the internet not because we're more clever but because of the accumulation of knowledge over humanity's years.

I agree completely. Since the beginning of the 20th century humanity as a whole has moved as far from Darwin's evolutionary theories as possible.
We allow the weakest of the species not only to procreate, we encourage it. It may sound harsh, but the reality is also pretty damn harsh.
I see less basic intelligence and common sense in the species today than I did 40 years ago.
If Nazi Germany were to begin it's campaign against the world today, I doubt that the Allies would be able to stop them.
Half the world has banded together with the express desire to eradicate a few 10's of thousands of IS fanatics, and has managed to do virtually no serious damage to the group. The African Union with lots of EU help, has campaigned against Boko Haram for over a year now, and is still losing ground to them.
We are physically weaker, less intelligent and much less motivated to even defend our way of life, than we were in the 1940's.
So yes I agree, IMO we are devolving as a species, soon to be little more than sedentary organisms integrated into an electronic existence.

It is true that the Tribe hominini, that includes modern humans (ourselves), as well as other now extinct species, devolved when that branch diverged from the pan genus (bonobo and chimpanzee) lineage. At that time, two chromosomes fused in the human lineages. This is similar to the wild horse (Przewalski's horse) and domestic horses, that they are descended from, and have 1 less chromosome. Both are still horses, and myself and others think that bonobos and chimpanzees should be considered to be the other extant species of humans.

Currently we are being subjected to an abnormal series of astronomical events, that has effected higher cognitive function in many people. But don't fret about it too much, because our distant ancestors, the australopithecines, survived for millions of years with small brains.
