Is it normal to think that kids under 10 should not be allowed on planes?

You know all those stories of kids crying/horribly misbehaving on planes? Well, I believe that any kid under the age of 10 (as well as poorly disciplined) should not be allowed anymore. It's inconsiderate to the other fliers and if they wouldn't ruin your flight with a screeching, misbehaving child, I think you owe them the same courteousy.

They do not belong on planes. If bringing babies, toddlers, and young children is absolutely neccessary (like, emergency neccessary, not just the parents being rude), is to make Adult-Only Flights and Parent & Child Flights.

I feel the same for buses, trains, theaters, etc.

I wonder what you would say if you had your own kids and wanted to take them on holidays. Kids are human beings and can't be muzzled or restrained. As a child they are not smart enough to know that they're being disruptive but as an adult you should be able to have some patience, get headphones or earplugs. The world doesn't revolve around your comfort. As for anyone that says they paid for the flight, well so did the kids' parents.

    I like kids.
Its refreshing to see them on planes or anywhere really.
I tend to try to analyze in my mind why the child is misbehaving. Generally they are not disruptive, they are just kids :)

In schools, kids are muzzled and restrained chemically with medications. Medicated behavior makes a teachers job easier. Why not use these same medications for planes. Adult behavior is medicated with alcohol.

Why don't we crate them and put them in the cargo hold?

You act like you were never a baby before. What did you just walk out of the womb as an adult.

I think that there shod be a private section for babies and small children on planes instead of first class! People who bring babies to the movies... I hope you get a nasty fungus , all of you :P

  • I was on the train a couple weeks ago and this kid was bouncing off the walls. Pushing on a man in a wheel chair, screaming, and causing a scene. His mom calmly told him to stop a couple times and he would yell at her saying things like, "shut up mom, you're being rude."

Women are good at having kids.

Too bad they aren't very good at raising them.

Absolutely. But I also think the parents should be held responsible for the actions of their children.
For instance, should a 5 year old child be a wild, uncontrollable terror, I think the parents should be fined a significant amount, say us$500.00.
It's more difficult with babies, but still one can go to the doctor and get a tranquilizer for any child if one knows one will be flying and the child tends to be rambunctious.
Under no circumstances should a child be allowed to fly if it is ill, unless that flight is to get the child to a specialist not available where the flight originated.
The big problem is that too many parents are unable or unwilling to control their children, when they are in situations where the actions of their children adversely affect others. This is just bad parenting IMO.
