Is it normal to think that a giant beast will eat me if i don't cover my feet?

Whenever I go to bed at night, I have to turn on the light a good 10 times to be sure I am alone, and then my wild imagination terrifies me and I need to cover my feet up or I will get eaten alive by a giant lovechild of freddy, jason, hannibal, leatherface and some furry fat, fleshy crab. It terrifies me. I also wake up if I kick or pinch something in my dreams, usually to find I was pinching myself.

  • Dude it's cool.
My cousin has something similar, she always has her fingers curled up into the palm of her hand.
I asked her why she did this, and she told me it helps her feel safe because she thinks something is going to get her if she uncurles them.
It's like a comfort thing, it helps keep you safe, because your mind is telling you that if you don't do it something will happen, it's kinda like a form of OCD. If it persists or bothers you I suggest you see a doctor about it,dont hesitate. :)

I have the same fear, well sort of, I don't think a monster will get me but I think something bad will happen if my feet aren't covered. So I'd say this is normal.

I can't sleep without my feet covered too! I really can't. Been this way as long as I can remember!

kids struggle with understanding the difference between real and imaginary. it's not a problem, unless, of course, you don't manage to grow out of it.

your reactions only tell that you are not mature enough to handle scary movies. taking a break from scarry movies might make you feel a little better. after all, if you are afraid to be in your own bed at night, where would you feel comfortable?

  • My mind plays tricks on me by making me think that someone is opening my closet. when I was really little I thought that if I didn't sleep in the fetal position , that a burning clown will come to take me into a burning building. Now I think if I don't get to sleep faster, a vampire will come and take me away, and kill me, unless I act like I'm dead or at least fast asleep like a log. So It's pretty normal to me that is. Try to get your mind off things and think about your day tommorrow, what your going to do. Listen to music, think about something you like to get your mind off things.

Wow, stop watching such scary movies. I used to only be able to fall asleep if all the sheets were tucked in under me. I asked my mom and she said she always used to have to do a baby bundting on me (you know when they wrap you up tightly in a blanket) - it was the only way I would sleep through the night. Now I can sleep with or without covers and they don't have to be tucked in - I can't even remember when that changed.
