I mean when I was like 8 I always thought somebody would chase me down the hallway when I turned off the bathroom light. So at 1AM you would hear me running down my hallway at top speed right after I turned off the bathroom light.

Paranoid, possibly. Being on high alert. But also, when someone actually is watching us, we often look back in that direction or our intuition senses and feels someone else's focus of intention on us.

Not that I'm saying there is a person in a vent. But maybe someone has watched you in real life, and that really bothered you. But your way of dealing with it is to keep looking for it again from the anxiety it caused?

But I've def had a paranoid fear of my own when I was living by myself. Usually of someone breaking into the house silently, or I hear a noise and automatically think robbery.

That's pretty normal. Going to the bathroom at night, check the shower curtains. I don't know, if it's affecting your life, especially during the day, just put some curtains over the windows, or move them in a way that they can't conceal anything.
