Is it normal to think sex education in school should be banned?

I am a father of two children, 1 boy and 1 girl. Many believe that children have the right to decide on their own what they are attracted to and no one has the right to influence them. Children will automatically find out their sexuality as they age, hormones will drive them, and sex education as a whole should be banned. In the primitive era no one was there to educate people about sex, yet they discovered it on their own. Various scientific researches supports these views and sex education and trying to influence someone's sexuality is morally wrong, children have the right to choose on their own, and in time will get attracted to what they like. Children go to school to learn stuffs that really contribute to society, like mathematics, exposing children to sex is disgusting whether it be hetero or homo. Sex education should only be there for those wishing to pursue a career in medicine and at higher levels of study. Parents and media are good enough to teach children about not discriminating against sexuality. Let children be children and schools be schools like they used to be before the 70s.

sex ed isn't about influencing kids on their sexuality. It's about teaching them the importance of std/sti and pregnancy. So stop worrying 'they're gonna try and influence my kids' No, that is not it at all

Let's see: Teen pregnancy. Stds. Aids. Illegal abortions . . . Why should children know about those things at an age when those things can affect their lives? You're right. Keep the young ones dumb and ignorant. After all, no need for them to know . . . until it's too late. Get with it Cave Man. I'm a father of three in case you are wondering.

    • Its not upto schools to teach my children to abstain from wrongful activities like those, and warn them about the terrible consequences, thats the job of us parents. If you think that you will leave it to schools to teach children that, then you are irresponsible. My wife and I will never allow my children to engage in illegal sexual activity until they are 18+ and can choose for themselves. Call us over protective, I consider our children's best interest. We will never try to influence their sexuality which schools are doing, ins awfully disgusting. My children are very obedient and disciplined and have no interest in engaging in sex at such an young age. They are kids, not sex hungry beasts, I was a kid myself and never engaged in sex until I was married, and never taught any of those at school, but I learned them from my parents and my own judgement, and every kids have the right to judge on their own.

You're overprotective. And also completely stupid if you think you can prevent your children from engaging in "illegal" sexual activity until they are 18.

I waited to have sex until I was 18 because I was (and still kinda am) afraid of the world and the unknown. if your kids are more curious and less afraid than me (which they probably are), I'm sure they will spark an interest in sex, and if you're not going to tell them anything about it until they are 18, things may go horrible wrong (pregnancy, std/sti, ect...)

Also, is there something wrong with you AND the school teaching about sex? Unless its about the school having different morales from you.

sounds about right to me, enjoy your children getting AIDS and pregnant at 14 because they didn't know what the fuck they were doing.

even if your the kind of parent that does teach them about sex, there are many parents who never have "the talk" with their kids, meaning they have limited resources in how to protect themselves.

sex education is here not for kids to start fucking, but it's here to teach them how to be safe and to not get dangerous diseases or pregnant.

also sex isn't disgusting, it's a natural thing in life. not saying that kids should have sex, they just need to be taught about it and the cautions they should take.

      Translation:

      Children are curious by nature.

I think that it's better to teach kids everything about it as well as all the repercussions, they should not make children afraid of it, nor should they make them want to experience it, they should make them aware of it.

Instead of letting their curiosity lead them onto things that they are not ready for.

Why not just put a lock on their door and let them out when they are 18?

Unless they're under complete surveillance and have no unsupervised Internet access ever.. they'll have already learned about some seriously twisted stuff thats much more alarming than proper condom use and std prevention.

Yes, this is normal. I agree with you a lot of the things they teach in sex education is quite immoral against sexuality. Though children should at least be taught about STDs and STIs and the kinds of people they should have sex with, when it's appropriate to have sex, how often they should have sex, and whether or not it's ok to have a partner who just wants sex and nothing else (which it's not, obviously.) They also obviously need to learn what sex is. They need to learn what a good relationship is too. A good relationship is important in life for those who are looking for one. They also need to know how to have safe sex properly and that they should remain abstinent until after marriage.

    • Who taught primitive people about sex, who teaches about sex to tribes not taking any form of education? They learn it on their own, because its natural instincts.

Yup. School isnt needed for kids to learn about sex. They'll learn it naturally from being curious.

I agree with you children should get to decide on their own. Childhood is a time for learning useful knowledge and playing, and as they age they will naturally feel attracted to who they like. and teaching children about sex and sexuality (hetero/homo/anything) is disgusting. Denmark includes bestiality in their sex education which is a disgrace!

I agree and the whole awareness excuse is bull shit, children don't need to go to school to be "aware" of that.

    Anonymous poll creator.
I assume you understand that that the national statistics in the United States are currently reporting that the average age for a child to engage in sexual activities is twelve years old. If you think that a child that young is ready for parenthood, you do not deserve to be a parent.

I would suggest removal of any Bible form your home, as it is filled with bestiality, incest, rape, sodomy, sexual slavery, and polygamy.

    Have a nice day Grandpa.
