Is it normal to think going without make-up for days is a big deal?

My gf and I were having a few beers last night and somehow got on the subject of make-up. She said that for some reason, or another, she had to go for 5 days without wearing a spec of make-up. And the 5 days included having to do regular things in public, like work, errands, going out, etc. She said its a big deal for a woman to not wear make-up for that long. I'm not judging, but was surprised. BTW, she wears very little make-up compared to a lot of women, but does wear it most every day.

Is going without make-up for 5 days a big deal?

That would be like a great achievement for me. I curse the day I first started wearing make up. I love it and hate it at the same time.

As a girl, I can tell you that it is a HUGE deal for many women. What gives you confidence most in life? Whatever that may be, think of it right now. Imagine going without it for 5 days. You would feel insecure. I had to go ONE, just ONE, day without makeup and I barely made it. This is just my opinion, but I know lots of other girls feel this way, too.

My gf is blonde with blonde eyelashes, too. But I think she looks really hot without the mascara. She goes without make-up pretty often, especially when we're on the boat.

It really depends on how dependent the person is on make up.

Personally, it's not a big deal to me since I don't wear it.
I know someone who freaks out about going out in public without it, though.

Oh horror! She's going to have to face the world without her clown mask? Oh the horror of it!

Is she blond? The only people I have ever met that freaked out over make up were blonds who didnt like that they had blond eyelashes.

But generally not a big deal.

    • Ahhhh, yes, she is blonde and has blonde eyelashes. And now I remember, she had lasik surgery and couldn't have make-up near her eyes.

I think it´s both sad and silly.
But as a female friend of mine says; Whenever she has less make-up on people comment that she looks tired.

I, myself got perfect skin at most times, dark eyelashes and dark eyebrows so without make-up I just feel ... plain, boring but I can easily go without it for days.
Due to the amount of make-up I wear and the fact that I can´t stress whilst doing it I have chosen to not wear it when I can´t be arsed to do it properly.

I wear makeup often but basically because I have an uneven skin tone. It doesn't kill me to go without but I do prefer to wear it when working because without it I feel as if I look unprofessional. And I think it's suiting if I go out to dinner or something like that. I enjoy do my makeup most of the time and it does improve my look a bit. My boyfriend loves me either way but I have noticed that he seems more sexually attracted when I wear it.

She's comfortable with it so her feelings about going without it are understandable.

Everyone shits on women for wearing makeup but really everyone is playing this peacocking game. We wear clothes that flatter our bodies or make us look a certain way. Women wear bras so that their tits look perky and round; and sometimes the bras are padded to make them appear slightly larger. Men wear suits that make their shoulders look broader and shoes that make their feet look big. Some trim their pubes to make their erection look longer. Men and women dye their hair and style it with products to hold it in a certain shape. Many people use scented laundry soaps, shampoos, and deodorants, and some even wear perfumes, all to make themselves smell more appealing.

Makeup is just one small ritual in a pile of things everyone does to enhance their physical appearance on a daily basis.

+1, but clearly women are more concerned with physical appearance and go to greater lengths to achieve a certain look.

I think it's fine .. I don't really care about make up at all to be honest . they don't ever need to wear the junk , its wasted money covering up something already beautiful .

As a guy i'd be lying if i said women don't look hot with make up on but that said, women look just as hot without it so i'd say it depends on the girl.

Women usually look loads better without. I generally find make-up a turn off.

Exaaactly.. It's like boys want the girl they're with to not wear makeup, not dress up etc so they feel crap about themselves then they go on cheat on them with the exact opposite.
Luckily my boyfriends not like that, but i've seen this happen A LOT.
