Is it normal to think everyone i know is boring!

A lot of people I know are so dull, but if I didn't talk to them I wouldn't talk to anyone, so I deal with it. Everyone's so concerned about being "normal" that it's like they turn the volume down on their personality. A perfect example of this is my sister, who is as blank as a peeled potato- if you ask her a question she invariably answers "I don't know", because God forbid she might say something original. I'm the only one of my friends, and family, who sings in the car, dances, makes jokes, brings up controversial subjects just to get a conversation going that might be halfway interesting and would show that they do indeed have opinions! And once in awhile I'll throw in an off the wall comment just to shake people up a little- such as telling them I'm really a black man. I don't know, sometimes I feel like I'm living in a world of black and white, and I'm the only one who's in color. Does anyone else feel this way?

Try find the right friends for you. I choose my friends based on individuality. All my friends are weird and awkward and I LOVE IT. The other dull kids at my school, I don't grace them with my presence unless I'm forced to work with one of them.

Maybe they act that way so you'll leave.

    • Maybe you should delete your account, since all you ever say is useless, rude, stupid things anyway. This site has enough trolls.

It could be that he's just a realist.
Plus that comment about his sister wasn't negative at all! Pretty steep to demand an account deletion, even if you are the OP here.

        • It wasn't a demand, it was a suggestion. And that comment about his sister was just about the only neutral comment that he's made. The rest of his stuff is very hateful.

People who always try to be original are annoying. It's like if they let their personalities in the box they are trying to walk out of.

bof, arguing can pass the time...

There's this 100 year old man who was asked what is secret was for living such a long healthy life. His answers was plain and simple; "I never argue". The person asking the question was taken aback and said, "This can not be the only reason, it makes no sense." To which he simply responded, "You must be right"

I see what your saying - but I am talking about those people that argue EVERYTHING, even when its just crazy. But you are right, people that dont argue at all are boring, I guess its that balance.....

          • Who said anything about arguing anyway? I never did. I was talking about discussions. Opinions. Not conflicts.

I get what your saying - but arguing and opinions go hand in hand, unless you have no opinion, like your sister.
Off beat comments are cool, if they are clevar ......
You cant expect people to be totally 'rad' in every situation, there are situations where, unfortunately, dullness (or professionalism) is important.
If your angry with people who are always dull, and have no opinion no matter the situation, I agree and understand.
Most people are afraid to speak their true opinion (on certain topics)usually because one time they did and they were all the sudden turned into a social pariah. Your family was probably more accepting than most. My family basically trained me to be neutral - adaptive. If I met you I would feel comfortable being random and opinionated -
anyway, what Im saying is that it just depends on the situation for me.
I was mearly reflecting on my opinion that I dislike people who always have an argument or opinion for everything just to be different - against the grain - it's just not genuine

Feel the same, though my sister and mum are pretty animated themselves, cant say the same for my dad though. Or the cat for that matter.
