Rule of thumb. When someone starts a sentence with "I'm not racist," it usually indicates that they are racist.

The fact you felt the need to preface this with "I'm not racist" immediately tells me a lot about your personality.

It's fine. You can find whoever you want attractive or unattractive, you don't need to justify it. Just don't go around saying it to people or you will sound like a dick.

However I would say that it's unlikely that every single black woman in the world is really ugly to you - people are individuals and you have to take these things on a case by case basis.

This is well said on both counts. The fact that OP wants the world to know they think black people are ugly doesn’t help them sound not racist, even if they want to argue that thinking black people are ugly isn’t racist. I don’t go around telling people I think are ugly that I think they’re ugly.

And yes, blanket statements like that is another huge clue that there’s more lurking under the surface here. A person who’s genuinely not racist would probably say something like “I think dark skin is ugly” rather than declare they would never date a black person. Language matters, and subtle differences tell you a lot about a person’s true intentions.

Who you find attractive has nothing to do with being racist so anyone who calls you racist is strange. I find people from all different races attractive but that's my preference. Just because you're not attracted to a particular look doesn't make you racist and it's normal to have preferences.

Some dark skinned people are attracted to only light skinned people while some find them unattractive. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, it's okay.

Not being sexually attracted to a specific race does not make someone a racist, IMO. What you're attracted to is beyond your own control.

Well, everyone looks different and I'm sure there's some black woman that would be your type. Our sexual and romantic preferences aren't our choice, but being kind and tolerant is a choice. Just be kind to people and don't generalize so much - be more open. You have the right to have your preferences, but saying things like that OPENLY might hurt black people's feelings since they're still discriminated. I'm not black nor even American but I respect all people and hate generalizing and racism.

Any gross generalization is short sighted and ignorant. No one can honestly say "everyone" of any race is any one way or another. Variables in appearance are infinite. Most people's genetics are more diverse than you'd believe. Your "preferences" and perceptions are merely a reflection of your own fear and lack of understanding.

I was already well aware of your feeble minded attempt to narrowly paint racism as having one and only one singular definition. This may come as a shock to you, but racists use that defense regularly. Again, like I said, your intellectually dishonest argument will get you nowhere because unfortunately for you and all racists, that’s not how words and language works.

Again, sexual preference is based on sex and not race. That’s why the word sexual is in the term. Race doesn’t have any more to do with sexual orientation than what toppings they like on their pizza. No matter how many times you use that ridiculous analogy, it’s not going to make any sense.

I would suggest you go back and read my comment again since you clearly didn’t comprehend it the first time. Then keep reading it until it sinks in. You’re welcome.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Correction

I know they didn’t say that, that’s my point. If they had said that, it would be significantly less racist.

There are no other universal traits that every single black person has, but you’ve further proven the point that it’s racist with that statement.

Sexual preference has the word sexual in it because it’s primarily based on sex/gender. It has nothing to do with race. That comparison makes absolutely zero sense.

The person who doesn’t understand that racism has a wider meaning than the one their feeble mind clings to should not be talking about the cognitive abilities of others.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • bbrown95

There's nothing wrong with not being attracted to specific traits in people. You are attracted to what you are attracted to, and there's not a lot that can change that. It is absolutely possible to not think of people as inferior or have anything personal against them, but to not find them attractive.

Even if you choose to use the intellectually dishonest “well actually it’s technically not racist under one very-narrow-and-not-commonly-used-but-convenient-for-racists definition of racist so technically it’s not actually racist, technically” argument, that opinion damn sure doesn’t make someone “not racist” and the odds of someone having that opinion without also holding other, more overtly racist opinions are astronomically small.

    Either way, yes, it’s racist.

I feel like your so close, but yet so far. Look I am not arguing against science since I agree that the earth is round the round and that gravity is a real thing. However, what I have a problem with is when you say with data that we are all equal. Than how come black people are getting killed by the police, or muslims getting killed for being atheist? I look at the empirical evidence and I'm sorry, but there is nothing on general principle that says we are truly equal in every way. Again attractiveness, preference, opinion, belief, judgement, school of thought, or whatever you want to call it. If you are discriminating or have prejudices towards another race. Then that is by definition racist. I never brought up the idea of physical or sexual attractiveness since that is something completely different to racism. Also if you claim as non-racist then I am happy for you, since I know the world doesn't revolve around me.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • BatterMilk

I am sorry, but this is the most non-racist racist post I have ever seen. You could have easily said that you were not racist, but the lengths you went to try and prove that were silly. There is no way you would think that person is not racist because he hates the color of your skin. Yes, you presented the facts, but does that mean you are not a racist, No. It's like saying "I have a ton black friends so that doesn't make me a racist" or "I have a ton of gay friends so that doesn't make me a homophobe." The facts (even though I agree with them) you presented are a strawman since I am not talking about IQ scores, or genes. If you feel like you are not a racist by all means you have my permission, but does that stop from other people for calling it what it is, No. Again I have meet people who have some really extreme beliefs weather it be economically, politically, or socially. I am totally ok with people sharing those beliefs, because I know the world doesn't revolve around me.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • BatterMilk

You are bringing up the same points again, so I am just going to leave you with an analogy.

What if you loved someone that has a different skin color than yours. You get the courage to ask them out on a date and then they respond with "sorry I don't date (fill in the blank race), because I think you guys look ugly."

There is no way your gut reaction would be "Oh ok I understand it's your personal preference and or opinion." If you think like that then you have fallen into the trap of falsely believing in racism.

Listen you have the right to judge people by the how attractive they are weather it's their facial features or body parts. The line ends when you start judging people by the color of their skin. Also if you are a racist just admit it what is their to hide? I don't mind people being upfront about their beliefs even if they are extreme.

    Comment Hidden ( show )

To call them all ugly is to claim they they are inferior at looking good. The wording I used may sound stupid, but there are few other ways to say it.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • BatterMilk

I'm inclined to disagree this person clearly states that all black women are ugly and would not date them by the virtue of their skin color. I can only take things to their logical conclusion or else I would be working backwards from my conclusion.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • BatterMilk

Attraction and race are two completely different things. That's fine if somebody is not attracted to somebody, but there's a difference if they are not attracted just because of the color of their skin. That is called racism. A man can not be by definition misogynistic if they are gay. They are only misogynist when they show strong prejudices towards women.

    Comment Hidden ( show )

Ok saying "I think they are ugly" to all black women is by definition racist. Why black women specifically? Like let's say a black man said they don't want to date white girls because they're ugly. Would you call that person racist? By the way you having black friends does not automatically make you a non-racist.

I'm saying I'm not physically attracted to them at first. The exception to that being is that if I get to know that person, and I find their personality attractive, which expands to them as a whole.

That being said, people are superficial and generally, we don't try and get close with a person we don't find appealing at first.
