Is it normal to take advantage of people?

Here is the story.
My sister married this guy who really loved her, he did everything for her and everything around the house. Made sure she drove a nice car while he drove a old car, fixed everything around the house [plumbing, cars, yard work, electrical...everything] fixed everything for her [her computer or anything she needed] She cooked for him most of the time and kept the inside of the house clean, cloths etc. But she never really showed him any affection. All of her affection went to her dog, which she lavished attention on day and night 24/7. So finally he said enough is enough and divorced her. You think he should have stuck it out or left?

No mutual love, no reason to stay in a relationship.

You've only heard on side of this story and of course you're biassed in favour of your brother: pity we can't hear the other side

I really don't think that was exactly what happened.

    • Exactly well only they know exactly, except for details this is the jist of it.

Maybe he cheated so she didn't want to show him any affection. Maybe she cheated with the dog who knows.

Bottom line is she married a good man, never showed him any love or appreciation and he left.

I know some people who treat their dog like their kid. The woman's mom is furious because the dog is the woman's excuse not to have children. Pretty selfish if you ask me. So your sister's husband made the right choice. Hopefully he had her sign a pre-nup.

    • I don't understand why anyone thinks not having children is selfish. Some people just don't want kids. Sometimes I think it's a bit selfish to bring someone into this fucked up world. Too many people have kids anyway.

Maybe we see things differently, but someone brought you into this world and worked their ass off to raise you, and now you're not passing on their genes because of your lifestyle.

Plus all the wrong people are having kids...

        • I'll take care of my parents when they're old but I don't plan on having kids.
I'll accept parental responsibility if it accidently happens, but that is not what I want out of life and would likely ruin many of my goals.

Yeah you need to think about that the next time you make someone bring you into this World. You owe them for all the trouble they had to go through.

Wait, you DID ask to be brought into this world right? I mean otherwise it would sound kinda crazy to put you on the hook to satisfy all sorts of obligations like having children and owing someone for something you had no part in...

If you don't like it, you can always give it back and say "no thank you." The return policy is 18 years. Otherwise there's a price to pay.

    • No pre-nup and yes she did try to get his retirement, don't know if she succeeded.

But he did leave and that was great, hopefully someone will show him the love he deserves. Unlike a dog that just lays there and does nothing. I can never understand why and how people waste their love on dogs.

      • Caring about a dog is no reason to bash someone. I do understand if you mean how some people give the dog levels of attention reserved for other people.

You must have very limited experience of dogs. My dog does far more than just lay (sic) there doing nothing and she's more loyal to me than any human friend or lover or family member I've ever had.

Plus she keeps me sane by needing to be walked and is always happy to see me. I could go on ........

        • Keep in mind

Dogs can not see further than their nose

Dogs can not think deeper than their stomach

If this is all you need then fine, mate with a Dog.

          Enjoy!

My dog can see further and think deeper than that and I'm not mating with her, although she is a good mate to me, better than I am to her some of the time

            • Give an example of how your dog was able to see into the future and tell you something.

              PLEASE

Sorry to disappoint you [well not really]but your dog has no conception of tomorrow or the future period.
