Is it normal to study the cases of sex offenders?

I study the cases of sex offenders because most of the times I want to know what goes in their minds and their actual motives. Most of the times I ask myself " Why do they do that offense? ", I personally believe there has to be a psychological reason and more to it especially ones who rape or ones who sexually assault people and ones who do the forbidden topics.

( SIDENOTE: For anyone wondering I do not sympathise nor empathise for these types of offenders and other types of offenders. )

Many people study true crime and the psychology behind it. Extremely popular topic these days.

I want to shoot ones who think it's okay to go in with children, what they do is quite vile and disgusting. Their trauma isn't an excuse to commit a crime, I get they were abused as children but it still shouldn't be an excuse.

Oh yeah, I'd love to shoot a pedophile! I cease to care about another person's past abuse when they start preying on others.

The funny part is when they are confronted by p3d0 groups they get defensive and they immediately try to justify things by switching the topic.
