Is it normal to starve yourself to lose weight?
So, lately I haven't been eating lots (I mean like, 50 calories a day) because I'm 32 pounds overweight and I have stretch marks and I just want to look better, is this normal?

I want to believe it's normal, since I know there are others who have starved themselves in order to lose weight. I think you know it's unhealthy though. I mean it is really, really, not good for you. Fifty calories a day is nothing, if anything try at least eight-hundred. Eat three meals a day, with some snacks in between, and total it out to be eight hundred to a thousand calories. That way you won't be hungry for the rest of the day, and you're still losing weight.
I know where you're coming from, and I doubt that I can change your mind on why you shouldn't do it, because to be honest I don't think I would've listened. But if you're going to do this, be conscious that it cannot be forever.
You don't want to spiral down towards anorexia, once you lose the weight that you want, try eating plenty of healthy foods and going on jogs in order to maintain your appearance. But please don't continue to be eat less, don't keep thinking that "I'll be more attractive if I just lost a little more weight." It's a trap, a pit that once you fall into can be pretty hard to get out of. Just please be careful. I'm telling you you should at least amp it up to eight hundred calories a day, because really if you only eat fifty calories you're just going to pass out continuously and it won't be fun.
You and I both know that starving yourself isn't a normal or healthy behavior. Knock it off.
Don't be stupid you'll develop kwashiorkor from the malnutrition. Don't be lazy do it the right way through a clean diet, yoga, and cardio.
... Coca and shea butter will help with the scaring.
The trick is to keep your metabolism burning. Not only is what you are doing unhealthy, but it's only going to take longer to lose weight. Your body will just try to hold onto fat more because it notices you aren't giving it anything, therefore, storage mode. Watch carbs and calories (at least 1,000 calories), get the majority of your carbs from fresh vegetables, and eat small every 3 hours. You'll have steady energy all day because you're allowing your metabolism to burn fat. Try drinking at least 80 oz of water per day, and no more than 10 oz of clear diet soda or tea, etc. Take a multivitamin every day. Your concern should be more about health than looks.
I'm 5'1 and maybe 105lbs or slightly less. I have stretch marks on my chest and butt/side of hips. It's not an overweight thing.
NO your body will feed of itself and your flesh and you will become very weak and unhealthy
it's sad but it's so normal, every girl in every country obsesses with body image
i feel like 98% of days im aiming to eat little enough so that i lose a little weight but it never works out
Sadly I think it is normal, nowadays, even if it's not healthy/right/good
Been their done that, nobody is perfect, and believe it or not a lot of people get stretch marks in their life time..starving yourself wont do anything. Your body is not only gonna go into starvation mode, its going to store everything you eat, and what you have in their as fat. Its trying to save because it doesn't know when its going to get a full meal again... its not worth it. Try taking a pilates class, or walking everyday, both very easy. I am not the skinniest nor the fattest, but i got curves and a booty, which i think is a lot better than being walking bones.
You know damn well it ain't normal or healthy, so why would you post such garbage? If you are looking for alternatives, then repost, but don't expect anyone to give you a positive answer to a really stupid question.
There is so much great information on eating disorders and weight control online, that I can't see any reason at all for you to post this crap on here.
Let me tell you that there's a 50/50 chance this actually works. Some metabolisms slow down immediately if you do this and you won't lose a single pound OR you may lose 10+ pounds really quickly BUT when you start eating again and you will, you'll get it all back and then some. I tried this for a month, lost 10 pounds, ate again and gained it all back and then 8 more on top of that. This is not cool man.
If you're eating over 2000 calories a day, cut back to 1500. If you're eating normal and you just have a crappy unfortunate body, try to swap foods.
Starving yourself isn't the right way to loose weight. It will make you ill! Just eat the right things, and less of the bad things and move more :P :)
Oh yeah, lets deprive ourselves of necessary energy and nutrients, sounds like a "normal" thing if you ask me.
2000 kcal a day is minimum, even if you want to lose weigth. You destroy your body with this. And it doesn't even help losing weigth because it slows down your metabolism to a bare minimum.
In a sense, it's normal for 'society'. BUT, starving yourself also has a chance of making you even fatter. Just exercise and set up an eating schedule.
One exercise I do is just walking up and down the stairs for a certain amount of time. It's pretty basic, doesn't require a machine, and I can do it rain or shine. There's also curl ups, push ups, and other things.
Get over it! I heard Salma Hayek has strength marks so if someone as drop dead gorgeous as her has em then it's normal as far as I'm concerned. I won't be ashamed of mine and neither should you!
