Is it normal to sometimes not like your own heritage?
I know it makes me sound like a racist, but I am not. I'm proud to be of Mexican descent. I love my culture's food, music, etc. I want to consider myself Mexican but some people of my culture make me feel like I don't belong with them. They mostly do that because I don't speak a lot of Spanish and because I'm fair-skinned. They go off calling me a "gringa" or "pocha" and it pisses me off that I'm not "Mexican enough" for them. This makes me not like my heritage sometimes. Why do they have to be harsh about it??? I know they don't want the culture to die, but is it necessary to be like that to your own?
