I moved back in with them after my divorce 8 years ago and started sleeping with them due to depression. It's a double twin bed and sometimes I fall through the crack cause the beds aren't connected.

Yes it's normal. You sleeping with them will decrease your depression I guess. And it shows how much they care for you being an adult a lot of parents won't allow their children to move back in. Consider yourself lucky.
Yes it is normal to sleep with them. They are old and I think that they love being with their son/daughter at night. Fix the beds together. You don't want to hurt yourself the next time you fall down.
