Is it normal to save pictures people you like?

So, I have this arguably bad habit that I'm trying to get over right now, which is saving pictures of people I like.

If someone catches my eye both physically and mentally, I tend to 'collect' pictures of them more often. This got to the point where I had to start organising these pictures into tags and albums on my phone, depending on who's on the picture and whether or not it's 'Not Safe For Work'.

A close friend of mine recently pointed me out on this after I took a screenshot of her on Snapchat. She didn't mind it per say, however she did tell me that in general this is very bad practice as you don't have the other person's permission to keep those pictures. Since I suddenly felt really ashamed, this caused me to delete every single picture I had from her and other friends or crushes.

Even though I mostly stopped this habit, I still want to ask your opinion. Do you think it's okay to save pictures or videos of people you fancy without them knowing? Even if these pictures aren't seen by anyone but you, and you have no intent of making those pictures public?

    Do what you like.
It was none of the persons business you saved a pic THEY made public.
    However, keep in mind.
If you ever get caught up in some B.S.
ANYTHING YOU SAY, can and will be held against you.
So,,, If you offend this coworker and they go to H.R. saying you are creepy, stalking, etc.
    H.R. will check your phone.
If theres pics of that person, and or hundreds of pics of random girls.
Youll likely be looking for a new job.

I think it's fine. When people post pictures, they should know there's a risk of someone saving them. XD

In legal terms, a photographer owns photographs they've taken, so you have the legal right to keep the pictures on your phone.

If we all had the right to control what photographers did with pictures we're in, you'd never see shots of crowded streets in any video or photograph. However, photographers do not have the legal right to sell photos of individuals for commercial use without their permission. For example, a wedding photographer has the legal right to make prints of photographs they take at the wedding and put them in an album for the bride and groom without getting consent from every person present, but they need to get the consent of the bride and groom before they sell a photo of them to a firm which wants to use it in advertising.

Things can get morally sticky when you're taking photos of people in private settings for your own use. Respect and common sense should guide your actions then.

Where things can get very sticky in legal terms is publishing (including on social media sites) photos that are taken in private, since people can argue that they had a reasonable right to privacy in that situation, and you've violated that.

And, of course, anyone who believes that anything they store on any electronic device of any sort is truly secure is deluding themselves. Carrying around NSFW photos on a phone seems to me pretty silly, since the only sensible attitude is to assume that you'll lose the phone at some point, it will get hacked, and anything that might conceivably be of some interest to someone will pop up on the internet.
