Is it normal to return to this site after over 5 years?

I stopped posting here 5 years ago. I first started IINing almost 10 years ago - wow! I'm 25 now - when I first came here I was just a kid. I wonder if there are any people here now who were here then? I was very active here back in my day, but I used a different account than the one I'm using now. I'd love to hear from you and see if I remember you!

Much about me has changed but much has stayed the same. I wonder if this place has changed much? I'm a little surprised it is still active, but pleased because this place meant a lot to me for a time.

Anyone else return after a long break? Anyone else remember the old days of IIN? Is this feeling normal? :)

    I’ve been here on various accounts since 2011 - welcome back to the swamp! People aren’t as into incest as they used to be but the “I’m T0TalLy str8 BUTT...” posts just keep on coming.

      When I was making my post I was glad to see that incest and bestiality posts are (apparently) banned now. They were everywhere in the early 2010s.

        Well at least now by this post I'm learning about IIN history, I bet incest, pedophilia and bestiality were banned because loads of people got grossed out ( and also them being illegal in most countries ) and that management probably said, " No you can't post about them anymore! ".

          Those three topics were banned I wanna say in 2016. There was a surge of trolls filling the front page with stories about getting it on or wanting to get in on with their siblings, parents, elementary school children, and their dogs. That shit made a lot of intelligent users leave this place.

            No wonder why some old posts sounded gross and messed up. That seems a justifiable reason why it got banned, I am sure there are ways to bypass it somehow but I am not going to get into it or even post stuff about it because people might think I am really, really fucked up if I even dared to talk about those kind of stuff. With regards to those trolls, there are some trolls around ( Yes I am guilty of trolling and I am kinda feel bad about trolling people on this website. ), if people didn't post about those stuff there would still be some intelligent people on this website I betcha. There is some instances that I see people talk about those three banned topics but they instantly get taken down by the management. ( I am sorry if my comment is too long. )

              I'm glad those posts get taken down. It like literally tells the person not to talk about those topics right before they hit post. It kind of tells me that the people that are into that shit aren't very smart. XD

          We got a lot of trolls. Partly because a forum where people open up about their feelings is perfect troll bait, and partly because IIN was very lightly moderated.

          If you're interested in IIN history, I remember when IIN Gold first got introduced, and before we had a mobile site, and I'm pretty sure we didn't always have the chat room either. Apart from that it looks exactly the same as it did 10 years ago from what I remember - even the Dave Eggers quote is the same.

        This silly place really meant something to me when I first found it ages ago. Issues with the husband at the time and stuff....a lot of us interacted several times a day and it was just the vibe I needed at the time. So many are gone now so its not the same at all, but thats ok. Life goes on I suppose. This is still the only forum type thing I've ever been on. Its cheesy as hell but I have so many great memories from this site and the users that used to be here. Some of the greats are still here and that's good 😁

        Enough about me...are you still living the dream down under?

            Yeah, technically. My house is there. My husband is there. My square head dog is there (am-staff. I know you have Pitties)...anyways, I was in America when the pandemic broke out & I couldn't get repatriated on the Visa I was currently on once they closed their borders, so I've been stuck in America & unable to go home for the duration of the pandemic. I have no idea when I'll be able to go home...borders opening, vaccinations, who tf knows.

            Anyways, it's been tough but I'm actually doing really well. I've been working a ton & doing a lot of solitary hiking. Hahahaha I'm ranting about myself. How have you been turd bird? How's the hatchling since your Iceland trip...I know she's still in the fledgling leaving the nest years...how's she doing with all this...fucking rampant bullshit?

            The pandemic has been tough for everyone. Kinda shitty to see the attitude on here, minimizing everything, especially since I've had a family member die from coronavirus

              We're pretty good so far, a few close people had the 'rona but luckily have recovered. Funny enough, when this virus really gained attention, the first thing I did was see if it had to spread to Iceland yet...it did.. It's all just crap and overwhelming sometimes. I know history repeats itself but I was hoping to never see something like this. My head is in so many places because of other stuff that I won't dive into publicly here, but I'm managing.

              A hike sounds so nice right now. A friend of mine live in Pennsylvania and she goes alone alot along the Appalachian trail...I may have to buddy up with her one day for an overnighter. Bring some bacon and booze, just chill for a little while in natures splendor.

              I hope you get back to Straya soon to see the pup 'n hub!!

      Yeah I had a different username back then. I switched to this account because I wanted to leave honest replies without being recognised from my main account. But I moved on from IIN shortly after that anyway and I can't remember my password for the first account.

      I'm sure I remember your name! It was near the end of my IIN career. I think we did interact at least some - I was an IIN addict for years posting every day and interacted with loads of regulars on my old account.

      Tbh I'm not sharing my old account name just because I want to distance myself from it a bit. It's like looking at a photo of yourself when you were an awkward teen. Maybe in the future I won't give a fuck though haha.

          Man, this thread makes me miss the old site & the old users. I wasn't here during the...high point, I suppose you could call it, but when I used to frequent the site, there were a lot of fantastic users that I miss.

          It's ok now & there are a lot of great users, but I just don't relate to it in the same way. I just feel like it's not the same & I really don't enjoy it as much

            The old days here were great tbh. It's fun to think about them. IIN was always quite small but it was a very vibrant community even 5 years ago. I really feel like all the regs in our day knew each other and (mostly) cared for each other. Sometimes there was even a little IIN drama when people got a bit too invested in it (or it just me who saw that?).

            There's something about IIN that really exposes the humanity in people. The weird and the mundane of the human experience, laid bare for all the other normal weirdos to comment on. Now I'm missing it myself, haha. It was the regulars who made it special, because lots of the threads were awful.

              Yeah, it really was a different site back then. I don't want to slam any of the new users; a lot of them are lovely people, but that sense of community is kinda gone. Yeah, there was drama & endless debates, and of course dog fucking pedos and and people who aren't gay even though they thoroughly enjoy the taste of truck stop penises...but yeah, the playful banter & people knowing eachother feeling is kinda missing. Anyway, who knows, you might still enjoy the site. The vibe is different, but it's not all bad.
