Is it normal to respond to an email after sending resume?

So I sent out my resume for a job via email. The person then said, "Thank you for your resume. If we feel you're a good fit for our company, we will contact you again shortly to set up an interview."

So I wrote back..not sure if that was cheesy or kiss-assy?

I wrote, "I appreciate you taking the time to send a reply and hope to hear from you again.

Thank you,

Sincerely Blahblahblah."

Was that a normal thing to do or should I just have left it? I feel like my reply was cheesy too..Is it normal at all?

Yes you can acknowledge receipt of delivery of their email to you.
For instance: Received your email and enthusiastically await an interview with you.

Your 'appreciation' and 'hoping' and probably a thankyou! May look a little weak. Your point (since you wanted to) was to send confirmation of receipt of their email, THAT is all.

    Don't even sweat it. I'm sure it's fine :)
