Is it normal to refuse to go to a gym if friends you know from elsewhere go?

I'm perfectly fine meeting people from a gym/exercise class outside of those surroundings, but I would rather die than be seen working out by a friend, or even a partner.

Hmm. I work out alone, because my friends distract me, they hold me back, they always want to leave before me, and I want to listen to music, not talk. But, I don't fear seeing them. I don't mind people seeing me in gym cloths.

Only if they're not good friends. Good friends can be supportive, not good "friends" might be judgy. I can see why you wouldn't want random people you know at the gym.

    • Even if they were the most supportive people in the world, I would still rather die than be seen by them in a gym by friends I knew from school or whatever.

    • My dumb logic is this: There is only one form of exercise your partner(s) are meant to see you do, and friends would just distract you and start chatting/"being friendly" i.e. being distracting.

I also don't think friends would want to see you all gymmed up.

You see, that sounds bizarre to me, as I love going to the gym with friends :) I find it more motivating and rewarding having someone to train with.
