Is it normal to refuse to curse?

I just don't like swearing in front of people. I find it to be unprofessional and unnecessary. But whenever I hear people curse and swear, it feels forced, like they're trying to fit in or something.

I do say stuff under my breath and in my head, and I save words for if the situation is absolutely terrible just for everyone to be scared at my sudden anger, but I'd rather say, "You, sir, are a long excruciating pile of fecal matter that has been produced by a sore dog." than, "f*** you f******* piece of f****** f****sweat."

It's more fun (and often more difficult) sometimes to come up with non-curse words.

There are audiences that swearing in front of is acceptable, such as friends and maybe some family members. Swearing is almost never be ok in front of children, work, or elders. People that swear inconsiderately in front of others simply sound ignorant and they make me irate.

For me it really depends on my environment. When it's accepted I do it, but if I need to be professional, I'm with my family or just somebody who doesen't like it, then I don't. Doesen't feel forced, it just kinda happens.

But yeah, if you swear constantly it loses the impact it's supposed to have.

You have alot of class. You don't have to curse to get your point accross. I do it all the time when I referee football and the coach is in my face..take care

Back in high school I never cursed ever... but when I got to college everyone around me cursed so much that it wore off on me.
Now I curse so much that my dad who spent 31 years in the military says I curse to much

When people use swear words in casual speech to intensify, like "that's fucking brilliant" then it reeks of a poor vocabulary and is not socially attractive except to the lowest common denominator.

However, if swearing is a good way of contributing to the venting of frustration, pain or anger, then by all means. I would rather hit out with words than with fists. I find it far more satisfying than physical violence anyway.
