Is it normal to randomly start stealing?

I've never done things like steal or shoplift in my life. In in my late 20s and have recently started stealing small things. Shoplifting mostly, I don't steal from people. At work I sometimes fix the cash register so I can take a few bucks... I'm not doing well financially and tired of never having enough money. I feel guilty about it and want to stop but it's not hurting anyone and my boyfriend says it's not wrong and encourages me. Advice?

My advice is to quit before you get caught. If you think your employers are so stupid that they won't notice, ask yourself how they are smart enough to stay in business.
As far as stealing 'little' things, it's still shoplifting and the penalties are serious, but the repercussions are much more serious. Serious enough that if (rather when, because once again, you really aren't that smart, honey), it will be on your record forever, making it hard to get a job and even rent an apartment some places.
Quit now, and call yourself very lucky you got away with it.

You're hurting and preventing the company you work for from making a profit. Your boyfriend is wrong and is a bad influence on you. Stores have security. It's only a matter of time until you get caught. Stop before that happens.

Just because you aren't stealing directly out of someone's pocket, doesn't mean you aren't taking from people. Small businesses can really get hurt by people shoplifting. How do you think big box retailers make up the cost of shoplifters? By passing the cost onto their employees, managers and customers so they don't have to deal with it. So you're making people suffer either way.
Besides that, you're hurting yourself. Getting a job is hard enough these days, what will you say to your next employer when he sees that you've been fired and arrested? Get help soon, or your life will be over. That's my advice, take it or leave it.

I stole lots of small stuff to last time just because I wanted those things and having them made me feel very happy. But the thing is that I actually had money and I could pay for those things. I guess I was doing it for the thrill. Just don't get caught. But honestly if you do it really sucks. They haul you away publicly to jail. So try to stop. Once you have a record it will be hard to get a job in the future.

I used to shoplift when I was real young and give it to these homeless dudes under the motorway tunnel who had nothin to eat.
The struggles real, believe me I know.
