Is it normal to question the value of being free when i'm poor and depressed?

Often times, I struggle to see the point to being free. What is it's value? I can say I'm a free man, but at the same time I'm poor, often hungry, lonely, and depressed.

At least as someone's servant I wouldn't be constantly worrying about money and I would have regular meals.

Drop out of society entirely, it's not meant for you. If you're bored and unhappy you're in the wrong place. Find somewhere else to go and something else to do. That's being actually free.

Aren’t there those people nowadays that chose to live in caves or farms away from society

That's what polite society would like you to think to steer you from your right to leave slavery. You're programmed to have an image of a shaggy lunatic living under a bridge.

Yeah my mom always says ur gonna end up under a bridge when u don’t bend to the rules n rebel:| though I don’t know how it’s there but a few people in Europe n such really go to farms or into the mountains to little farms when they have enough. But really only a very small minority’s
          I really wanna change society

Most people don't want to change the way they're living. Dropping out of the rat race is the correct thing to do but most people won't ever do it, because the married with kids american dream type lifestyle is set up for you already. it's easier. It's like how i've noticed most of the time if I point out that the space station is clearly a hoax people get mad and call me a retarted flat earther.

I know I’m not supposed to use stereotypes, but damn the US fits theirs well...^^’
Maybe tell em it could be a hoax and explain why. People are often set in their opinions and set up a huge wall. U need to get in there quietly and not hit against it
Have u watched the movie American beauty? Like damn it’s art. And I think you’d really like it
Sooooo r u gonna drop out of the rat race then?

I seriously question why so many Americans have depression when we have it better than pretty much everyone else.

That isn't how depression works, despite the fact that I have almost none of my life savings left, I'm very lonely, and fed up of this boring, mundane life.

      Freedom is overrated.

I disagree with it being overrated, it’s just not being put into the right light by society
Like I said the price we have to pay is very high
Imagine something on a silver plate, you have to reach out to get it but once you have it they cut off your hand

That doesn’t mean we will be happy. On materialistic things we may have more, but that’s it
Also what I’ve learned in my life is, never compare yourself to others, in a way it’ll only make it worse

Yeah it's normal to have that feeling.
As a woman who was raised with a strong dad,
I say it is what you DO that matters.
You need to sit down with a notebook and a pen and write down a list of things to do to make your life better quality.
Start with that at least, then move forward.

Why are you hungry? Can't you work? And if you can't and you're poor, you're entitled to food stamps. If you're disabled, you're entitled to disability. And even if we didn't have those, there'd still be plenty of charities to feed you.

Also, don't forget that this freedom you have is also a freedom to do something with your life that'll improve your lot and get you out of your misery. Get good at something, then make a business or a profession out of it.

As to the depression, make friends or something.

I sometimes think, we may be free for a part, but at the same time what we pay for that and what pressures lay upon us doesn’t really make it freedom. It loses all of its spice
Maybe it’s also because there is simply going on too much, just too much and then you shut your brain and it feels like there’s nothing but it’s still dragging you down

Freedom comes with responsibility. If you relinquish that responsibility to someone else (the government included), you'll also relinquish your freedom of choice and authority to them. No such thing as a free meal. You want great security and little responsibility? Try East Germany.

My savings are almost gone, I only have about £200 to my name, that may sound like a sum, but that's all that's left of my entire savings, about £250-odd, maybe even less now.

Well, then you start saving over from scratch. It's not the end of the world, especially if you're young. And this time around, just be more conservative with your spending.

Yeah, you seem to have more of a morale problem. You need to find something that gives you enthusiasm to get down to business, something that pumps you up. Try thinking about some of the good stuff you want to have, envision yourself having and enjoying it, and that's how get the spur you need to get out of bed and start grinding for it.

              Mental, not moral:)
              But start with small things
I like being in the water or looking at the stars. Maybe ur already at a point where u don’t enjoy anything anymore, idk
What helped me is the thought of changing the society when I don’t like it. It’s a lifetime goal but at least I have a reason for things now
