Is it normal to pretend to be a gay guy online?

Im a girl. Sadly, but I've always wanted to be a guy. Went to lengths such as cutting my hair really short, wearing boyish clothes, and wearing no make up to change how i look. As of lately, been pretending to be a gay guy online, Creating an alter ego. My roomate found out, now she won't talk to me anymore. That's why i want to know: is it really all that bad?

Look up transgender, you sound like a homosexual trans-guy. It's perfectly normal just do what makes you happy.
Screw your room-mate, she is not important.

I guess it's because of the people i've been with. My mom, uncle, aunt, sister, and brother are all homosexuals. I just guess it doesn't matter, i like both sexes.

I've done it too but not really created a persona or anything, I would just play second life with a feminine/gayish looking male avatar because I liked that style, and people just assume online I'm a guy, and I liked it. I never claimed to be a guy but I made "girlfriends" on there for unknown reasons but I never let it go too far cause I'd feel bad although I enjoy it so much I wish I could genuinely pass as a guy. Even done up myself to look like a guy for profile pics but only got as far as asking on yahoo answers if the person picture was a guy or girl...it's a lot more fun to be a guy online, so idk why your roommate would even care as long as you're not taking it too far. But honestly I figure if people make it up in their own head that you are a guy, and you never actually say "I'm a gay guy" but just pull it off well enough, or even to believe such a thing without sufficient proof, then it's their own problem...

Roommates suck. I've always hated having a roommate when I had one in college.

I dont think creating an alter ego online is that bad, its the internet. But i kind of want to know the reason behind your alter persona being a homosexual male and not a heterosexual male.

She still likes dick? She is a f2m transexual, whose orientation is homosexual? That's my guess.

    What is your guy name?
if I had a girl persona I would name myself.. Sarah-Michelle.. or Jessica-Lynn..
Definitely some hyphenated double name.. something that says: "I'm open minded but I also have morals"

I don't understand your motivation. As a girl it would be normal for you to be interested in guys for friends and for sex.
As a gay male it would still be normal for you to be interested in guys for friends and for sex. So what do you gain by pretending to be a gay guy?

That is completely normal, personally I'm genderfluid, which means I change gender identity, periodically. I've had different identities online, but I keep my friends unaware of it. You're probably in a period when you start questioning your gender identity. But it's normal and I think your roommate is overreacting.
