Is it normal to notice more baby boys being born than baby girls lately?
It seems like at least 80 percent of pregnancies in my area have been with boys. At least 7 women from my church have been pregnant within the past year and they have all had boys (I seriously don't remember the last time someone from my church had a girl), my cousin is having a boy this month, my other cousin's ex just had a boy, a friend of mine who moved to Maryland a few years ago had a boy, and most people I went to school with either just had or are having boys. Maybe it depends on where one lives (obviously I must live in the middle of the Testosterone Ocean...lol).
I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it's gotten to where whenever I see a post on Facebook like "Guess what I'm having?" or "I find out the sex of the baby in X amount of days!" I don't even guess anymore because I have an idea of what they're going to say: always "IT'S A BOY!" I think, "Congratulations."
I have a few logical reasons why there are more males born than females these days. 1) We are in a war, and more boys are born during war time to replace those we've lost overseas, 2) females tend to be stronger and outlive males in the long run, 3) there is a higher chance for a boy being conceived than a girl anyway, 4) it depends on where you live, or 5) it's just that time for more males.
It makes me think that in about 15-20 years girls won't have a bit of trouble dating because guys around their age will be a dime a dozen, but good luck to the guys trying to find girlfriends lol. It's a good thing my boyfriend and I don't plan on having kids for a long time because we want a daughter. He has had a girl name picked out for a long time, and I want to dress her up in cute clothes and do her hair when we go places. However, I do know if we were to have a son we would love him just the same. Every baby is a blessing in his or her own way. Again, I am not trying to be sexist or rude. But is it normal to think that way more boys are being born than girls lately?
As a final note: Congrats and good luck to all expectant parents, regardless of which one you're having! :)
