Is it normal to not want to date anyone with a military/navy background?

Absolutely the most dangerous thing most people in our society do is get into an automobile several times a day. The morning and evening commutes are the big killers. Anyway only a small percent of active military personnel are actually at risk these days; many, many more have support roles and never see combat or are ever in danger.

Normal, being a military spouse isn't for everyone.

The Navy is part of the military, no need to separate them.

I understand the fear that he'll die, but Christ if the rest of that is not a complete generalization. Military men are violent because they are ordered to be, and most of them probably enjoy the thought of never having to be violent again after they retire or are discharged. Also, not everyone in the military sees combat.

I personally am not drawn to military men because their personality types don't mesh with mine, but if I dated one I'd be more worried about his safety than mine.

Military are usually bad, religious people are worse. They are all masters of humiliation.

military people are weirdos. a lot of them are rapists too, it happens a lot in the military where people are raped and they end up becoming rapists themselves. When they leave the military they continue to rape, so you shouldnt get involved.

You might be generalizing that everyone in the military is the same way

Unless you buy into that whole patriotism thing, dating a soldier is the same as dating a hitman, except without the charming mystique. Definitely "not for everyone".

Yeah this is totally normal. Not everyone can handle or deal with this type of thing. You are not bad for feeling this way. The people who are with military partners and not in military themselves are often heartbroken when this happens.

It does not happen to every person but if you are going to marry into the military you are going to have to think about this. Your lover dying in the war is awful.

However I have met military people before and they were always the most polite, respectful and friendly people I have known in my life. I prefer these type of people since like me they do not seem to judge.

Least all the ones I have seen. Most people I meet from city and those places are snobs and believe they are better since they have fancy clothes. I guess most military men are country boys and so are not really flashy. I prefer these type of people to someone who is only judging me by how expensive my car is. I am not from a rich family and I did not grow up rich. I cant make friends with someone who only cares about money and prestige.

Also where did you hear military dad/moms beat their children? Simply being in the military does not mean you are going to beat your child. My uncles were all in military. One of them you cant tell either since hes one of the most gentle sweetest people you will ever meet. I was shocked to hear he really served.

well to be honest their violence has to do with the way they're treated in the military. They are specifically treated a certain way as to make them emotionless and violent. So it's not really a stereotype. so yeah I agree with those points of yours that'd pretty normal.
