Is it normal to not use soap that's been dropped into dirty water?

Okay so my sister dropped my bar of face soap into her dirty gross bathwater and I don't want to use the soap anymore because it now has someone else's germs and gross bathwater on it. After I decided to not use the soap my mom got really mad over it and kept telling me to use it anyway. It's really unhygienic and I don't understand her anger. Is it normal?????

  • It's soap ! Rub it under clean running water and the next layer should be fine -_-

  • Solution: Buy that gel soap in a bottle so you won't have to experience this anymore.

Another thing, you may or may not know, someone in your family might have been using your bar of soap. Just thought you should know.

Its normal but you have to realize that soap has anti-bacterial properties. All you should have to do is throughly rinse it off. If you still feel that you can't use it, you could always give that bar to your sister and buy another one for yourself.

use a knife to carve off a thin layer from the bar of soap, then put the soap in a one to three three solution of bleach and water for thirty minutes, and you'll be good to go

No one should share a bar of soap deary, my advice is to just buy your own soap bar and keep it in your room or something.

Perhaps I did not word this submission properly. Faceless, you really did make me giggle a little because of your angry/troll-like response. And dear aussiewolf, I meant that I do not want to share soap or use soap that may have come into contact with anyone else's skin or waste bathwater. I'll use the same bar of soap as long as no one else touches it. Anyway, I just opened a new bar of soap and now keep my soap in a different place. Problem solved.

so just by what you are saying is that you use a new bar of soap every time you have a shower? this seriously cant be a real story... i mean who would be so fucking stupid to write this and for it to be true.... or do you never use soap at all because you think that soap is unhygienic?

  • No its totally normal. I do it all the time. Even when my family uses a bar of soap in just their shower I dont use it. I never use a bar of soap after people even if its been used one time. I always open new boxes which is why I just get shower gel. I think its unhygenic too for some reason to use a bar of soap after someone else. I don't even use soap if its been used just to wash your hands. Weird yes but thats just not how I roll...
