Is it normal to not see people as 'ugly'?

I see it everywhere. 'He's ugly', 'she's ugly', 'they're ugly'. But what is 'ugly'? To me, every single person (even those agreed by everyone else to be 'ugly'), is just a person. Not ugly, and not beautiful either.

I can't see physical attractiveness at all, and I can't see ugliness. It angers me when people are put down for something as piddly as their appearance. People are treated better or worse just because of their looks. Is it really that big of a deal?

Is not being able to see 'ugly' normal?

I think human evolution is working guys. Thank God you think like this, honestly I wish I did too.

I think everyone looks the way they were meant to, I admire people's differences, it's better than the weird ways everyone tries to look the same.

    • I like differences as well, and it's also nice when people do whatever they want with their appearances. This includes makeup, wigs, anything. As long as it doesn't harm another, (and how would it, if it's only on you), just go for it.

The way you have described this sounds really nice. But if I am going to answer your question honestly, an inability to find any other human being physically attractive is not normal.

    • I'm what they call 'asexual', I thought I would grow out of it with age (which is what I've been told by many people). I'm 19 and I still don't see it, nor have I ever.

Asexual people can find others aesthetically pleasing.

Yea, I'm very familiar with the concept. But even most asexuials are able to comprehend the concept of attraction, or recognize attractive features, even if they are not sexuially attracted to an individule.

I am gay, I do not find women attractive at all. But I am able to look at Megan Fox and Rosie O'Donnel and recognize that Megan Fox is more attractive, even though I feel no sexual attraction to her personally. Someone might even disagree and find Rosie more attractive, but they are still able to make a distinction between the two.

The complete and total inability to distinguish the features of any and all human beings, even for an asexual is abnormal. I am not saying it is a bad thing, but it is exceptionally rare.

    That's a good outlook.

I don't think it's normal, but I respect you for the reason that you don't judge people based on physical appearance. I wish I could see things like that, but it doesn't work the same for me. There are those who are attractive to me and those who aren't. I try to treat everyone as equals regardless of appearance, but when it comes to dating, if I'm not physically attracted to someone it's not gonna work.

    • I just looked him up. I see nothing wrong. The thing is, I wouldn't suck face with anyone, as you put it, I don't desire such things.

Same here. But Most people look basically the same to me.. I've never seen someone I would consider "ugly"

It would be cool if nobody could see "ugliness." This is a good thing.

This is nice and all, and it's one thing to not care or judge people by their physical beauty or ugliness. I agree that people shouldn't be put down for piddly things like that.
But I don't really believe you honestly can't differentiate a beautiful* from an ugly* person.
Unless that's not what you mean; you do see ugliness, you just don't agree that it's ugly (or beautiful)...?

    * by conventional, social standards, not your own.

    • To be a little more clear, it's like this for me:
Suppose society calls a person ugly. To me, they are not.
To me, it's as if someone (representing society) showed me two apples and claimed one to be a banana.

Damn society.... what do they know anyway..? We're all beautiful fruit in the orchard of love!
