Today is Columbus day, and I still have school because it is a federal holiday but not a state holiday in California. I do not like Columbus day, it seems like a holiday that was not meant to be. I habitually check my mail box after school, but there is no mail on a school day, oh yeah it's a federal holiday but not a state holiday.
Also it is a Monday and those are the best days of the week to have off, in my opinion. I just wish the politicians would either make it a state holiday or cancel it all together.

    I love the idiotic parade they had on Columbus Day with all the uneducated, ignorant masses dressing up like Columbus and screaming of joy how they're proud to be Italian/proud to be Spanish.

    Nothing wrong with national pride but does anyone else notice how no one knows what the fuck this monster did to a whole nation of people? A whole nation, and such a beautiful culture at that.

    The miniscule 2% that used to be 100% now are forced to live in misery on reservations ON THEIR NATIVE LAND. Is that anything to celebrate?

    Why should we celebrate Columbus day? All the spanish ever did was invade and kill people.

    why should we not celebrate this man? his people killed many civilizations and then forced those who survived to practice a new religion. what's not to like about that?!

    MOTHERFUCKER IF WE DIDNT DISCOVER AMERICA MAYBE THE RUSSIANS OR THE ASIANS COULD HAVE TAKEN THE WHOLE AMERICAN CONTINENT. THE RUSSIANS WOULD HAVE EXTERMINATE THE NATIVES AND EXPLODED EVERYTHING THAT WE KNOW, RUSSIA WOULD BECOME THE BIGGEST WORLD POWER AND WOULD MAKE EVERYONE ELSE WORK FOR THEM. Thing is, why did the Americans killed for land? Let's think really good. We may started slavery, but you kept going on until all of Europe banned slavery. If it wasn't of the Americans that had some conciousness that fought for the African-American's rights, Wiz Kalifah and Jamie Foxx wouldn't be here right now. That's my opinion on all of this.
