My friend's birthday is coming up, and I have no idea what to get her. She likes Doctor Who, but that's all I know about her. Is it normal to have known someone for about five years yet not know what they like besides one very popular show? I feel so stupid because I've known her a very long time, and yet only know one of here interests.
The way I see it is you have two types of friends in life: friends that you feel very connected to and friends that are just there for the company. I have so many friends that I know so much about, but just as many that I spend time with simply for the company and that is okay. The point is, you aren't always going to connect to your friends in the same way. You cannot expect to be bonded with everyone in a deep way, it's just impossible. Don't stress too much, as long as you enjoy her company. If you want to know more about her you could always ask? It won't hurt, and maybe she can become one of those friends that you are connected to. You never know!
Give are anything you think she might like,trust me she would appreciate you. Or just indirectly ask her some questions to know what she likes (but keep your surprise a secret), goodluck...
