Is it normal to not know what to say to ppl so you don't respond at all?

I have a tendency of not answering people back. I get texts from friends and will send a few texts back and forth and then they'll say something and I won't know what to say so I don't respond. I know it's rude to not answer people but I'm not very social via texts or email or even on here. There's no body language to work with and I'm very expressive when I speak to people. A bit over the top, I emphasize with my hands and my expressions. My quirkiness doesn't translate so much through conversations in my phone. I like hearing someone's voice, plus sarcasm doesn't translate well in texts.

    Normal. I'm awkward with phone conversations as well. This one is unrelated, but I also seem to be awkward with video chats for some reason too. lol

      So am I lol. I don't like not being able to poke them or touch them. I usually just put the camera on a random object and talk about the weather and let the awkwardness ensue.

          lol the impromptu video chats are better, there's less time to psych yourself out.

    Same here. Thankfully, most of my friends understand when I take a long time to respond. It's when I'm talking in person with someone, that I tend to run into a problem if I don't know how to respond back.
