Is it normal to not have any trust in my parents?

I don't trust my parents with anything other than normal, daily things. I mean, if they drive me to school, I trust them on the road and stuff, but I don't talk to them. I don't trust them with my personal life... My parents are divorced, so maybe that has something to do with it. is it normal to not trust my parents?

Hi,I think that its good to be able to trust someone...otherwise it is hard. I think when parents get a divorce it could feel like a betrayal and thus would affect your ability to trust them again (especially with your feelings) Also, if your parents argued a lot in front of you and used you to hurt each other (which often happens during divorce) and said bad things to you about each other etc. you might feel hurt and sad and not wanting to open up to them again. But it must be hard on them too as when they got married they definitely had hoped to live together forewer after... Divorce is a big disappointment for everyone involved :( Please try to find some peace and someone you can talk to about how you feel.

My parents were very naive and gave me the worst advice I ever got. I am continuing their legacy by giving bad advice here at IIN. My advice to you is to be careful who you listen to.
