Is it normal to not be sure if i dream in color or black and white?

I was reading something about some people dreaming in color and some people dreaming in black and white. While I sometimes can remember dreams, I have no clue if I'm dreaming in color or black and white. Is this normal?

  • I don't know. Mine are color but anything goes with dreams so I would imagine they can be black and white.
I have heard some people can only dream in black and white. I don't think being color blind would make a difference other than having trouble imagining the colors because colorblindness is manifested within the eyes due to a lack of rods and cones whereas dreams are not seen with the eyes.

That's not how dreams work. They're a series of unconnected thoughts that you later turn into a narrative. You'd only dream in black and white if you are colorblind.

my dreams are in full color, a couple seemed to have a a rather gritty color palette to them, like a dream i had the other night where i was living in a village in 1940 and the Nazis were invading. i was watching from a Window too scared to move.

People who are blind usually dream in black and white, if I'm not mistaken. I dream primarily in colour. I think that I've had dreams in black and white, sepia and blue (I forget what the effect is called).
