Is it normal to not answer your phone?

When my dad or sisters or any random number calls me I usually dont answer my phone. Why? I've answered the phone one too many times just to be yelled at or bothered about something meaningless. In my mind, if you've got something important to tell me, text me.

Also, I dont understand why my family will randomly call me and when I dont answer, they dont shoot me a text. Was it really that important??

Lastly, how do I go about politely telling people I do this?? I just want people to stop calling me ffs.

    I don't like texts and I don't like to hold long telepphone conversations except with my sisters and my mum. I don't like it when someone just call to check. Please no. No news, good news.

    I have a serious anxiety about answering some phone calls, some people are harder to converse with than others. So I tend to prefer texts with these certain people. People close to me; children, husband, parents I'm ok with!

    How about texting them and asking them to please not call, you prefer texts

    You could tell them that you prefer to text, and that you are more likely to answer texts.
