Is it normal to name my pet rabbit after my ex-girlfriend?

I just got a pet rabbit and he's really cute. He doesn't do much, mostly eats, sleeps, and poops. I let him walk and run around my room and he's so awesome and cool. I take him for walks around my neighborhood, and I don't put him on a leash because he can't really attack anyone, but he doesn't exactly go where I want him to go. But if I walk in front of him he does sometimes follow me, which is so cute. I decided to name him Andrea, after my ex-girlfriend because he really reminds me of her for some reason. Plus I think Andrea is a cool name for a rabbit. He doesn't really respond to the name yet, but I'm giving him time.

    • sometimes he keeps looking at me like he expects me to say or do something. I'm not really sure what he wants though. He is kinda mysterious and I like that.

Maybe he wants you to stop calling him Andrea. You could at least call him Andy.

Yes it's normal and good therapy.

A friend named her dog after my ex girlfriend!

I always laugh when I call her dog to me, "Come on <name>, who's a good girl then? You got doggie bowl dinner look today haven't you <name> ? You wanna go back to your little doggie house now?"

I think that's really funny. Years ago a friend of mine broke up with her lover and the lover named her rock group after her, as in "X is dead" which I thought was very nasty indeed.

I'd be careful walking him in public: you're correct that he's almost certainly not going to attack anyone or anything, but they're very vulnerable creatures and he could be attacked by some passing dog or even a cat.

Take care of him and taking pleasure in his company, I think it's cute for an adult to have a companion animal which is usually reserved for children

Rabbits are very good eating and they can tell you if someone is pregnant. Other than that, they are pretty useless.

Do they still use rabbits for that? I thought that went out in the 60's?

Not useless if they're keeping OP company but personally I do find them boring except for a cuddle. I prefer my dog, much more interactive and intelligent
