Is it normal to like romance in your friendships?

I have a lot of friends, many of my friends I would consider daiting if the time was right, but I actively love the friendship and wouldn't want to lose it so maybe not. Something I've noticed however is that my best friendships have underlying romance to them where when we're together we basically flirt with each other platonically and do and say very intimate things, like emotionally not sexually, is this normal? (Just for clarification I date both genders so this goes with both my female and male friends)
