Is it normal to like eating this much?

I'm a 21 year old girl, but I like to eat a lot. I always feel the need to eat until I'm full and pass the point of being full at times. If I can feel the food that I just ate in my stomach, then I'm satisfied. I like to see my stomach actually expand a little after eating. I guess my upbringing is a huge factor in this because my mom would always encourage me to eat extremely well when I was a young girl. Even now, she still likes to feeds me a lot. I actually clean the plates that she serves me food from. Of course, I can tell it makes her happy because she always serves me more food after I had already finished a huge amount of food. It has gotten to the point where I am literally proud of myself for being such a good eater.

  • You post a lot about dieting and/or food. I’m not trying to be a jerk, but have you spoken to a therapist about any of this? It is not uncommon to have an addiction to food and that addiction has a mental dimension that a diet alone won’t fix. Keep exercising, because that’s great, but think about it.
You should be proud of being a healthy eater, not always cleaning your plate.

  • In UK you would be classed as overweight, although you would not yet be obese. The main problem you face is that as you get older your metabolism slows down. This means if you continue with your current eating trend, then in another 5 to 10 years you are likely to have gained a lot more weight and will fall into the obese category. If you feel you can’t reduce the quantity you eat you should be very selective about what you eat. Choose salad, vegetables, fruit, fish, white meats and poultry. Cook from fresh ingredients and avoid tinned and packaged food which is full of preservatives. Stay off the foods that are high in fat or sugar content and drink plenty of water.

As long as you exercise enough, eating too much shouldn't be a problem. get a treadmill, estimate your daily calorie intake and check to see if you are able to lose as much, you should remain fine. There is a meter letting you know the amount of calories youve lost.

But eating too much and not exercising would make you dangerously overweight and risks cardiac diseases. There is a show on discovery called "my 600lbs life", looking at the struggle of dangerously overweight people (result of eating too much and not exercising) to lose weight, they even need weight lost surgeries, watch an episode, it might help a lot with your situation, although I dont think your situation is that bad, at least not yet, and it wont get to that if you exercise. Still I suggest watching an episode of that show.

As long as you exercise and lose enough calories, eating too much isnt a major problem. I suggest getting a treadmill if you dont have one and exercise everyday, and ensure you lose enough calories on the meter. Also cycling helps, go out cycling and you will find it rather enjoyable too, swimming is another great option. But treadmills are most effective imo....

I have taken up jogging so that I would not have to restrict my caloric intake very much. The last time I weighed myself, which was only about 2 weeks ago, I was 159 pounds. Maybe I weigh a little less now since I'm exercising every single day. I have done crash diets in the past, but never again will I torture myself like that. I would rather eat a shit load of the healthy foods that will never cause me to gain weight and exercise. This is exactly what I've been doing in order to lose weight in a more non-torturous way.

Large meals are what gets you though because your body stores it. Eat many small meals constantly. It works like a charm. Jogging is fine but I hear of joggers dropping dead on their daily run. Walking or swimming is bettet on the joints too.

  • Your BMI is "normal" (healthy). Maybe when you say "huge" it's actually normal and you somehow think it's too much. Or you just have a very good metabolism, and the quantity of food is indeed a lot bigger that it should. Have you calculated the calories in your food to see whether it's normal?

People might tell you to see a doctor, but maybe you don't actually have a problem, you just think you do. From the numerical data you provided so far you are normal, even though your description sounds abnormal. Check whether you actually eat enough or too much using numbers.

I also eat a lot in comparison to other people (like 2-3 bowls of soup and half of a pie at one meal), but I think it's not too bad, it's mostly people being frustrated about weight and eating less than normal, hence the discrepancy which seems huge. Eating until you are full and sometimes beyond that sounds reasonable to me.

I mean, the stomach gives you that feeling of fullness as a natural instinct to tell you how much to eat. That instinct is always better than a random piece of advice on the internet. Also it depends a lot on your activity, whether physical or intellectual. If intense, this depletes your body of energy and you have to restore it. The only scenario I can imagine where eating less than filling your stomach is when you don't do anything the entire day, just resting and sleeping or so.

But anyways, I love a lady with thick "meat" and some fat on her waist and legs I can grab and squeeze. Yeah, momma.
