Owl City. I enjoy that music, although the lyrics are so cheesy sometimes it makes me laugh to myself. Postal Service is kinda the same way. Maybe it just has to with how they're sung (half the time I can't tell those 2 bands apart)
Good lyrics are just a bonus. Some songs are musically amazing but have the most cringe worthy lyrics. It doesn't bother me unless they're singing about eating babies or something.
What? I thought "cheesy" was stuff like Celine Dion, Savage Garden, Daniel Bedingfield, etc.
In my opinion, Owl City's songs are pure poetry, both lyrically and melodically. They inspire me. "To The Sky" and "Fireflies" remind me of having adventures in my imaginary world. "Vanilla Twilight" makes me want to draw art of my favorite ships/pairings.
Then again, I have what most people would consider "bad taste" in music, and on top of that I'm pretty childlike and hopelessly romantic/mushy, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Many bands have joke lyrics, but their music is complex, stylistic, original, or just plain fun. Lyrics are "one instrument" in music. They are more like a co-instrument to the lead vocalist.
I don't even have to listen to the lyrics to realize I'm listening to a bad song.
yeah mane when im having a punk rock moment or think back to those skating days i listen to my song Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies. Sometimes Im thinking What The Shit Am I Listening to haha but the song is just far out man
theres alot of stupid lyrics out there good for a drunk friday night a "one time use" but the music sells
