Is it normal to know your mother is having an affair and do nothing about it?

Recently I became suspicious about why my mom had been working so late and why she had become protective of her phone. So one day when I had her phone, I read through her messages and discovered multiple texts from an unknown number talking about sexual encounters. My parents are still married. Not sure what to do. IIN?

Well, unless you actually have proof beyond even your doubts that she is cheating, don't even bother with it and leave her damned phone alone.

I caught my Mom cheating. I heard her admit it, I saw her do it, and I told my Father. The next five years of my life became hell, my own father disowned me and my Mother beat the living hell out of me every chance she got and called the cops or threw me in the mental hospital every time she wanted to throw a hissy fit about how I ruined her life.

Honestly, I don't know what I would do if I could go back and change it, but until you see her infidelity for yourself, stay the hell out of it. When young ones get pulled into adult affairs, it's not pretty. Stay the hell out of her business, distance yourself from it and don't even think about it. This is not your issue, but it can quickly become yours if you keep doing what you're doing.

I know that you think that you might have a duty to your Father (or Step-Father), but, like I said, don't investigate and don't even think about it. For all you know, it's nothing, and your investigating could cause more problems in and of himself. Until you see undisputed proof that she is cheated, let him worry about it.

Let her know that you know, but stay out of it! Be there for her and dad if and when you can! Don't take sides!

It would probably be best to keep put of it.

I'd stay out of that one. If nobody knows you know, keep it that way. Let them handle their own, you don't need that kind of pressure.

When I was a kid I saw both my parents be unfaithful. My dad was more 'man like' about it and it seemed more OK just from their situation and my mom did it once that I definitely knew of and it really, really disturbed me. There's no real reasonable difference between the two doing what hey did, it was equally dirty, but as a kid I felt weird about my mom doing that. I felt betrayed for my dad by her. it was just strange. I wanted to tell him, and I wanted to call her out....probably more because she played a victim so much and she was seen as the honest one....but in the end it was none of my business.

Anyway, I taunted her about it a bit but I never told my dad. It's been almost 20 years and I don't know if my dad knows or not now. It's just not my business.

I would join in but I am afraid that she might cook better than me.

I pride myself on my cooking and It's a beautiful thing just like the way people love eachother at my dinner table.

You must be anti-women because all you do is ear bash over how horrid they are. Get over it.

  • What? Are you fucking serious? This whole website bashes men about how they cheat, and when a mother is cheating on the father, the only thing you guys say is "None of your business, keep out of it"...Fuck this community, really. When the fuck is this generation going to pass already?

Although you did find slight evidence of a possible affair between your mother and another person...let her handle it her way. Your parents relationship is none of your business!

I think my mom had a affair with someone else as well, I didnt say anything. I pretended like it didnt happen and let it pass. What you don't know wont hurt you. Sure, it lowered my opinion of her but I didnt want to cause any problems. Maybe staying silent is the best way to go.
