Is it normal to keep a necklace that you had received from an ex-boyfriend?

A week before the break up, I received this beautiful necklace from him.
Then, when I broke up,
I didn`t know what to do with it and I finally wanted to give it back,
but the weeks went on,
and I didn`t had the time since he lived far away,
so I just decided to keep it and even sometimes wear it..
Is it normal?

  • Either way, I'm sure it was a gift. Wether you decide to wear it or not or if it has a meaning or not is up to you. If I got a brand new car as a gift, I wouldn't give it back to the person who gave it to me because we broke up.

He bought it for you to keep right? You buy something for a boyfriend of girlfriend as an expression of your affection, not on the condition that they stay with you. It's not a bribe, and it's weird to return gifts just because it didn't work out.

Personally, I wouldn't like wearing a reminder of a failed relationship. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I'd feel more comfortable either sending it back to the guy or giving it to someone else who's got no connection to it.
I had a colleague who wore rings that her ex-husband had made (he was a goldsmith) and I found that strange for someone who wanted to make a fresh start.

Only a week, I'd want to give it back but it might be a struggle for me to do it. Assuming the breakup wasn't his fault, like cheating.

So weeks passed and not even a e-mail about anything? If he asked I'd do it but then maybe he was reluctant to.

So I guess I'm really saying I'd keep it and wear it too.

It is normal for most girls, but kinda tacky I think. If you was with him longer I would say it was fine, but a week? Come on! Good luck with your choices.

If it has been that long and he did not ask for it back then I would keep it! Good luck with your choices
