Is it normal to justify not approaching women by convincing myself they're gay?

I'm a man and whenever I'm in public and I see an attractive woman that I would like to talk to, I justify my behavior of not approaching her by convincing myself that she is a lesbian.

Not normal. As anyone that has ever spotted an actual lesbian in the wild will tell you, they are not attractive.

But that's beside the point. The attractive women are simply out of your league and rather than get shot down you wear your beta male plumage on your sleeve and turn tail and run.

So, if there's anything that's really wrong here it's that you're justifying your justifying, which puts you several levels away from where you wish you were. The only cure is to man up and get shot down, then you can scowl and call them a lesbian to their face, they love that.
