Is it normal to immediately forget if i said goodnight?

Someone in the household goes to bed and says "goodnight". I'm involved in something else so I'm not giving it my full attention. Then just seconds later I'm unsure whether I replied "goodnight" back or not.

    I think you guys are misunderstanding. I'm not saying that I forget to say goodnight. It's that I forget whether I said it or not!
