Is it normal to hope for depopulation?

I wish that everything would go to chaos and governments world wide kill a grand total of 5-6 billion people. Yeah, sure one of those people could be me but you know what? If it means ALOT less people and a healthier less densely populated planet, then let me die. Earth is a FINITE small planet and should not have 7.2 Billion+ people on it. It's insane and it's revolting. It proves that we really are no more evolved than other creatures because we can't even manage our numbers on a healthy scale. A 1-Child Policy would benefit us all superbly (Atleast until our numbers decline to 50 million then we could have a 2-Child Policy). You know what's sad? If a wild animal behaves like this it's referred to as a "Pest" or "Overpopulating" and has it's numbers culled until the population is stabilized but if WE do it, IT'S PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE. HYPOCRITCY, MUCH?! Humans shouldn't be able to overpopulate either. Especially SINCE WE'RE NOT THE ONLY CREATURES ON THIS PLANET THAT NEED THE EARTH IN ORDER TO SUBSTAIN THEMSELVES. No, I'm not trolling and yes, I'm being serious.

Yet another post someone made about disliking humanity.

Maybe we could start filling the site up with stories about how we wish for all these misanthropic doomsayers to die in a fucking fire.

Do it enough, it might come true. Won't bring the overall population down by much, but it'd still be a valuable service to the community.

Isn't that a contradiction? If we're hating people for hating people for hating people and then want them to catch on fire then isn't that an oxymoron?

No - there's a difference between wanting billions of people to die out of some delusional misanthropy, and wanting a group of misanthropes to die.

Hating some people for hating all people is different from hating all people for hating all people. It's not an oxymoron or a contradiction.

Also I don't actually want them to die in a fire - that was hyperbole for humorous effect. I just want them to stop whinging on IIN. Whereas OP and their ilk claim to genuinely want genocide.

Some strings could be attached to them and they can be put on stage for a necro puppet musical extravaganza.

Magnificent idea! Once they really start to rot it will be fantastic with all the flailing dance moves making the limbs go flying into people. And some may even explode from the bloat. Oh we should hand out 3D glasses to really make the experience unforgettable.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that we believe it's PERFECTLY acceptable. I think that we just accept it because that's the way it currently is. There are so many implications for simply wiping out 5-6 billion people that we'd end up worse off than we were before. However, I absolutely agree that we should be focused on reducing the number of humans reproduced every year.

I wish that we'd get rid of police. Everyone carry a gun, and if anyone commits a crime against you, you should have the right to straight kill them. If people decide to abuse the lack of police, and form big gangs to try and run shit, then we send in the army, and they shoot every motherfucker in the gangs. That'd rid us of all the bad people.

Law and order would collapse immediately. The world would turn into chaos and it would be a race for power among rival gangs.

Governed society forms out of chaos.

Reverting to chaos would lead to horrendous consequences. Which would ultimately lead back to governed society. I guarantee it.

I agree OP. Everyone around here is gasping or rolling their eyes but you know what, its almost a moral obligation to do so, for the sake of the stability of this fragile ecosystem

Depopulation would actually do our planet a world of good right now, since we are pretty much at maximum capacity already. And our global population is just growing and growing, and it's estimated to be doubled by the year 2050. So wanting depopulation? Totally understandable. However in the way you described seems rather cruel. It'd be nice to think it would occur through just a shit ton of bad weather, or zombies, or something. Bring on ALL the tornadoes, hurricanes, forest fires, and even shark-nadoes! Then again, those would probably wipe out a healthy number of wild animal species as well :/

But I totally agree, at least America needs a 1 child policy like China, or people should just start adopting kids and forego having their own all together. It wouldn't seem fair, but it would do us a lot of good in the long run. Part of the reason why I'll never have kids is that I don't want to contribute to the growing global population. India could probably use something like that too, considering that they are the most populated country on the planet. And at a fraction of the size of North America.

Depopulation may or may not be a good thing. But there's nothing we can really do about it is there?
