As best friends you should be up front beforehand. No she doesn't own him. But to not say anything when you could easily and she may have feelings about it just looks like concealment - going behind her back. In other words - being a sneak.
Nope. I know people are going to get defensive, but I had a friend that was dumped. When she was dumped she started flirting with her ex's best friend for all the wrong reasons. Me and my buddies talked to her told her to think with her head not her hormones.
I'm not saying every case is going to be bad but I know personally, from the bad guy's side that it could be. People should try to understand that when your best friends ex starts getting interested in you it might be for the wrong reasons.

If they're touchy over you taking what they didn't want... that's not your problem.
if she had feelings for him.. dont go there! if he was just a fling, mention it to her and ask how it would make her feel. (and dont let her get away with an insincere, "its okaaaaay.. " bcuz she might just say that, but true friends wouldnt go there!! when I was in high school I really fell hard for my bf (while treating me like a door mat) and after I moved away, I found out my supposed best friend got pregnant by him!! I was so pissed and hurt!!!!! what neither of us took into consideration was how evil he is. it turns out he totally dragged her thru the mud, blackmailed her, threatened to kill or hurt the baby and totally made her life a living hell. my point?? karma, baby.. dont do it!! when karma gives u ur payback u always realize that it was SOOOO not worth it!!
If you are really friends with this person you should have asked them if they would mind before hooking up.
And if it had been a serious relationship - after only 3 weeks - definitely no.

I think it depends if your friend still has feelings for this person, if they do I would say it's a no go, but if there over it I would say go for it.
if your friend and that boy were serious, then it probably wasn't a very good idea. however, if they just had a thing, and all of their feelings for each other are absolutely gone, then i'm sure its fine. you should tell your friend about it nevertheless, or you should have asked her first.
