Is it normal to hit a woman if she is attacking you?

This isn't a gender thing. The sole question is how much force you use compared to the other persons threat level. Ray Rice, for instance, had no threat and used far too much force. Making it a gender issue would be sexist though. Many women would be able to kick my ass and if Nicole Bass attacked me she'd be the same as Ray Rice.

You have the right to defend yourself no matter who attacks you. There should be no controversy whatsoever! If a man attacks me i defend myself. If a woman attacks me i defend myself. Simple as that. If someone is a threat to your safety and integrity, attacking you with a dangerous weapon, you have a right to take measures of self defense even if that means killing your attacker. And what they have between their legs shouldn't be a criteria. PERIOD

In self defence yes, but why was she attacking you with a knife in the first place? If shes crazy just leave.

It depends. If she seems stronger than you, then you should try to defend yourself. Run away if she's weaker. Anyway society will not forgive you for hitting a woman even if she's the one who attacked. If unfair but that's the way it is.

Oh my God! Yes! It's just wrong! Women are weaker, that means the most you should do is hold them tightly! That'll show them and teach them never to do it to somebody ever again! If you hit a woman that is hitting you, then you are scum!

My actual feelings towards it:
Yes, there are plenty of reasons why you should hit a woman, they're the same ones on why you would hit a man. If you're trying to tell that you aren't allowed to use your strength on those wishing to do you harm due to them being weaker then what you are doing is taking away the male strength and allowing the female's to be used, ergo women end up with the only usable strength.

Our fuckin' society, man...I swear. Men actually feel guilty for hitting a woman that's hitting them...Ugh.

So I have more of a suggestion. Treat women hitting men the same as the reverse, ergo they get the same charges or allow men to hit them back so they learn to keep their hands to themselves that way, because society as it stands is saying "Go ahead, hit him, all he can do is hold you tightly to make you stop, I know right? Sooooooo scary".

Anyone that thinks a woman being hit in a situation you think it's acceptable to hit a man for doing the same, is quite frankly, a sexist to both genders.
You are sexist to men because you support their abuse by not allowing them to show why they should not be hit and you are sexist to women by treating them like children that aren't responsible for their actions.

The great damn irony of the "You can't hit a girl!" mentality is that you are basically calling women children.

As a sentient life form you retain ever right to defend yourself if someone attacks you.

Look at how animals react when they are being threatened. They give of warning signs to the attacker. Sometimes they'll run. Other times, they will attack in self defender.

My first reaction would have been to shove her, and then slap her, and if it was a knife I would have ran. But punching is ok when she comes at you again after you've already slapped her and she's still clawing at you.

Like... I've totally had women smack me in the face and crap when I've asked for it and I'm never one to even think of smacking them back. Its the repeatedly smacking and hitting I. The face with claws or a weapon that gets me. Especially when its a really extreme reaction to an easily talked about situation.

if someone is coming at you all crazy with a weapon, the whole idea is to use more force. the idea would be to knock someone out, woman or no. a knife is a life threatening weapon. a punch is just a little bump on the head, let the person sleep it off.

i never had to hit a woman my whole life.

of course, i never had a woman pick up a knife on me, and start swinging and running at me with it. and i never been clawed at either. in a relationship its always wise to say, yes dear.

Hell yes it is. However if you somehow provoked the attack than you probably deserved it. If a crazy female decides to come up and stab you out of the blue by all means punch her out. However if its something like playful pushing I do not see the need for physical violence. Knocking her out cold is going to be a lot less harm than either one of you getting pointed with a sharp object.

If a woman is attacking you with a knife she probably has the balls to take a punch. And she has probably already taken a few punches in her life time.

The question is, what do you do to provoke women into attacking you with paring knives?

If you feel like your life is in danger, do what you gotta do to survive. Otherwise, nobody should be putting their hands on anyone, regardless of gender.

I think if your life is in danger and you have absolutely NO other option, shove the woman away. Rather push her away, because hitting someone back isn't self defense, its "you hit me so I'm hitting back".

You don't have to strike back, and its wrong to strike a woman. I'm not a feminist and by all means, I think its sad how women use their gender to get away with murder (sometimes literally) but why hit her back, you know? Push her away and make a run for it.

I've seen guys slapping a woman when a woman slaps them and it looks so disgusting. A man is always stronger and physically more likely to hurt a woman than the other way around, so I don't see it as fair if a man strikes a woman.
