Is it normal to hear someone clap in house but no one did it?

Serious answers only, no trolls. I'll just delete that garbage in a second.

I live with my family and we were sat down in our kitchen just chilling/having a snack. It was pretty quiet because my Father was reading something and my Mother was watching the TV on low. All of a sudden we all hear a LOUD *CLAP!!!!* from 6 feet away from us. We were all mainly on the right side so it was like 6 feet away on the other side of the room. It was REALLY loud and they jumped. I didn't but I was all confused.

I googled it and found nothing but one article that said some people of a town started calling the police because they heard what sounded like shots/pops/loud noises coming from one end of their house and they thought it was an intruder. Apparently on further inspection, it was the house itself as it was cold out and the beginning of Winter. But their houses were made of aluminum/wood. Our house is made of brick. It is basically Spring now and it's cold outside still but we've not changed the heat settings or anything so it's not like the house could do that. Also it definitely sounded inside the house, not outside. My Mom said it sounded like it was 2 feet from her as she was the closest to it. I said I immediately thought you clapped but it wasn't her obviously as I saw her as I heard the noise. She said it was definitely in the house and my Father agreed.

There was nothing in that side of the room. It was just a table on a rug...We have a dog and he was sat down right by my Mother's legs so it wasn't him either. No one else was in the house. It was REALLY loud, not mild or moderate. It sounded like someone clapped over a loudspeaker sort of thing..it was that loud and it didn't sound like a pop, it was more like a clap as we all agree on that.

Is this normal? Has anyone ever heard this before? Tell me it's normal, thanks.

Also, this was in our living room where we don't have any TV or electronic devices. We thought maybe it was a weird phone issue but we realized all our phones were in our bedrooms nowhere near the sound.

It's just the house settling. It usually does that.
And if you're going into different seasons and weather changes that makes it more possible. Things expand when its hot and shrink when it gets colder. Hence the noise. You're okay (:

The same thing just happend to me in my room... I was standing on my phone in the middle of my room and then all of a sudden I heard what sound like a really loud clap behind me... this isn’t the first time this has happened to me it’s happened once before 2 years ago when I was on vacation staying in a house we rented in Pennsylvania. I was laying in bed already scared because the house had a really creepy vibe to it at night and me being the baby I was I was already hiding under the covers but then all of a sudden I heard the same exact clap that I had just heard 10 minutes ago behind me

This just happened to me and my 12 yr old son. We were asleep in the livingroom and all of sudden around 2:52 am we both woke up to a loud clap right above our heads.
I turned on the light and there was no one there. Nothing had fallen. No cracked glass or anything. Im keeping the lights on just in case. I hate that I googled strange clapping noises at night.

Same thing happened to me last night. I was already paranoid by my window for some reason. Then when I was tryna go back to sleep I heard a loud clap right by my ear. My heart dropped and I hauled to the light. Turned around and saw no one. My heart was still dropped for about 5 minutes. Long story short I kept the light on and didn't go to sleep til about 7 am

This happened to me like 10 minutes ago. I was sitting on my table listening to slumber party (by Britany Spears) and out out of nowhere I hear a loud clap. Freaked out I looked around the room I thought it could have been my sister who usually knocks on the window to scare me but when I opened the front door she wasn't there

Alright, my family and I just had the same exact experience about an hour ago right in front of the brick chimny. I too thought phone, computer, bad outlet? Some electronic issue. I even felt the energy of it like someone was right there and clapped. Like a build up of energy, then a loud clap. It was the strangest thing. Googled it and came across this:
If you can find no physical world origin for the sound, what you have heard is spiritual and called a rapport.

A rapport occurs when a spirit traveling in a high-frequency dimension zips through our lower frequency dimension and an energetic wave called a shock wave is produced. A shock wave occurs when any energetic wave is moving faster than the local speed of sound in its surrounding fluid.

When a spirit is traveling really fast to meet you on the physical level, a mini spirit sonic boom happens.

And what you've heard is the sound of a Spirit traveling to you.

We just had a similar experience today. We were all in the room together sitting and talking. We heard a really loud clap about 2 feet away from us in front of the closet. All five of us heard it and we were in shock and we do not know where it came from.

    • It's not a ghost story unless you believe in ghosts.
