Is it normal to have your sexual peak at 12?

I always read that men reach their peak of sex drive at 18-21. But my experience is very different.

When I reached puberty at 12 years old my sex drive spiked in a very short time and after this it just dropped, dropped, dropped over the course of perhaps six years and then reached a plateau now for the last years.

I don't suffer from low sex drive but it's really dramatically lower and much more "sane" than at 12. This question is not obvious to me, because while boys in their early teens behave more hornily, it could be that they don't know how to handle it appropriately and are more sexually frustrated. For me the reason would be that I just had a much, much higher sex drive at 12 and in my early teens than around 20.
