Is it normal to have waves of stomach-ache like pains during late pregnancy?

I know what you are all thinking. "DUH You're having contractions, stupid".

But i've looked up different people's ideas of what contractions feel like, then i have my own mom's idea and my sister's idea and none of them describe my pains. Nor do my doctors.

Yesterday morning around 8, i had a stomach-ache like pain almost immediately after eating ice cream for the first thing i ate. But the pains didn't go away. They came in waves. Theyd be like waves literally, the pain. Itd be bad, then not so bad, then not be there at all. Then itd get bad again not long later and then be not so bad and then gone. Over and over, it lasted for maybe an hour. Then it went away completely.

The same thing happened today around 1 in the afternoon. We had just got in the car from walmart, i had an empty stomach and i ate a snickers bar. And then the pains lasted the whole 15 minute trip home and about 45 minutes after getting home. I was moving around and everything and they didn't stop.

But then they just went away and i havent gotten them again yet. They do sound like contractions but they dont last. Nor do they feel like a tightening and loosening of my stomach, nor do i have an other pains. It feels like a stomach ache but theres no nausea.
Im 37 weeks and 3 days along.

Is this normal?

I think I know what you mean. I'm 28 weeks and I've had some similar pains after standing all day and walking.. they last for a bit then go away. Probably braxton hicks. My guess anyway.

Umm sounds like you aren't eating healthy. Ice cream at 8 am? No wonder you have stomach pain. You might have a slight intolerance to lactose or some other disacharides causing fermentation from absent enzymes leading you to gas pain. Just a possibility. And yes Braxton hicks is very likely too.

That sucks: / wish I could give some helpful advice but sounds to me like it just comes with the territory you are almost due anyway, so it won’t last for that much longer. If it really bothers you go see a doctor about it. Out of curiosity what are you naming your boy/girl?

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. They're nothing like the real thing so brace yourself.

What's with all the sugar?? Ice cream, snickers?? You need real food!

Do you think it could just be stomachaches from the pressure of all that baby in you? That would be my first guess, but this isn't a subject I'm particularly knowledgable on.

Braxton hicks maybe? If your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't worry. Oh and everyone describes pains differently so you may feel it completely different to someone else
